Something that I find always amusing is how random these culture war targets are. Like the Transformers live action movies have been a pretty white franchise. 6 Movies with white leads and maybe some diversity in the smaller side characters but not much. Now the latest one, Rise of the Beast, comes along with a Latino man and a Black woman as leads and nobody seems to care. This wasn't some small movie. This was a 200 million tentpole one, but I haven't seen anyone on the left praising it or on the right attacking it.
Movie itself wasn't a hit but and merely broke even but I imagine that's mostly due to franchise fatigue and not because of the leads.

That's the thing that I find odd. How do people decide what is "woke' and what isn't "woke" when it comes to non-white leads. Just saw the new Exorcist remake trailer and it features a black girl and a white girl, both of whom get possessed. Some of the comments I've seen are that it's woke but...why? Is the presence of a black person in any lead position woke? Or is it woke if you remake something with a black/Hispanic/etc lead replacing the previous white lead? There's this weird sliding scale for this stuff and I def think some people are basically conditioning their brains to view the mere presence of non-white people as wokeness. Not even just in art or media. Black doctor? Woke. Black HVAC guy? Woke. Hispanic nurse? Woke. That's...uh...bad.

i think it mostly depends on how much the movie PR is leaning into the "first interracial lesbian kiss on screen where both persons are disabled!" diversity stuff. 
that's when you start to think that this movie is probably going to suck dick and probably also when people start to predict a "go woke go broke" box office

Two YouTube pranksters disrupted a vegan banquet hosted by Just Stop Oil and unmasked themselves as the masterminds behind a counter-protest movement against the eco-activists.

Joshua Pieters and Archie Manners have claimed responsibility for the stunt at the Heritage and Arts Centre in Bow, east London, where Just Stop Oil threw a meal for its supporters on Sunday.

In a plot designed to sabotage the event, actors infiltrated the venue before setting off panic alarms, attached to helium-filled balloons, which blared out noise as they rose to the roof.

The incident was the second perpetrated by an emerging counter-protest movement, known as “Just Stop P---ing People Off”.

Counter-protesters first struck on Thursday when Just Stop Oil activists planning to protest in Elephant and Castle were blocked by rebel demonstrators who formed a human chain around them to stop them from slow marching.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mr Manners claimed that the eco-activists were now “hated” by some who would describe themselves as environmentally conscious and left-wing.

He said he felt that Just Stop Oil “punches down”, adding that the final straw for him to take action was the “irksome” storming of the World Snooker Championships by two orange powder-waving activists.

“The one that really got me was the snooker – that was not an environmentally damaging activity, people had saved up quite a lot of money during the cost of living crisis and travelled to Sheffield to watch and the entire day was ruined,” he said.

The banquet, attended by senior Just Stop Oil figures, was advertised as a meal to discuss how “we’re beyond f----d” and how it was “a time to step back and grieve for what will die and disappear forever, but also to celebrate what we have achieved”.

Just Stop Oil said in a statement: “We thoroughly enjoyed Josh & Archie’s prank yesterday. Great action design – nonviolent and ever so slightly disruptive.

“Their faith in democracy is touching, but the climate crisis needs urgent action today – we simply don’t have time to wait for a new government.”

Kind of rare to have a casting director just straight up say that it's more about a statement than trying to find the right actor but also pretty ironic that she then picked a very typically attractive, very lightskinned half-indian woman and that's something she then pats herself on the back for. At least do something really atypical then.

There’s a good chance I’m out of touch but filming yourself crying for tiktok doesn’t register as a regular everyday normal gal. Just seems like a performance for online attention. Contradictory to the point of men seeking an artificial idea of a woman. Her act is artificial in its own way.

Regarding Snow White and the manufactured nature of online outrage. These interviews are months old. Some photos of the filming went viral and the machine found its target. Finding what they can to keep engagement up until it releases next year. Soon, they’ll discover it’s written by Greta Gerwig, who was also behind Barbie. Then learn the Huntsman is played by a black actor. And so on. Then approximately ten seconds after it’s out, it’ll vanish into thin air. Like The Little Mermaid.

What’s unique here is the set photos were Disney skirting the SAG strike using non union stand ins for face replacement. One vulture got to it before the other. So nobody can bring up the insidious ways Disney operates without seeming like they’re part of the anti woke camp.

Isn't the much simpler explanation that there isn't really a specific body type you need for baseball while if you want to be a professional basketball player you better be at least 6'6? Obviously there are exceptions but it's like the most common attribute of basketball players (all around the world), more common than them being black.
