Looks trash.
Usually, when a studio produces something so they don't lose the rights to a property, it doesn't turn out great.

As it went from live-action footage to cel shading, I felt my emotions flatten out the same way.

On cgi cartoons, there’s a new Watchmen adaptation purporting to be comic accurate. Not good, but more so the choices made are really strange. The whole aesthetic is like a telltale game. Voice acting is all over the place. Manhattan sounds like robotic text to speech. The movie and TV show appropriately went for detached and cold. Comedian talks like an anime character or that Overdrift parody. The writing is all sanitized and PG13. I’m too lazy to check, but no blue dick makes me think it might be. Black Freighter is awkwardly worked in. Many side characters and world building are left out. Despite being two parts, likely over three hours total when finished, it feels rushed. Strange. Sort of feel it makes the movie more impressive and also any “comic accurate” version needs to be a season long series. Here, they have Metropolis holding the meeting, but don't get into who he is. Who the Minutemen were. It brushes past all that. The motion comic released in lead up the movie all voiced by one guy is better.

The movie was 90% comic accurate. Like, the cause for unity in the ending was the only change, and everything else was nearly exactly the comic. The idea that the comic was a reaction to Thatcher and Reagan brinksmanship, specific to that era was brought up for filming: "why not update it? does anyone care about Reagan or nukes any longer?"
Snyder is not my favorite director, but when he follows the comic correctly, he can put together a good film. Lord only knows what they think they're doing here.

Watching Blade 2, after all of the jumping around and vampires exploding, my wife comments, “This seems like a movie that boys would enjoy.“ She is 100% correct.

Man Beetlejuice 2 is an absolute mess of a film. Wow. The whole thing is just a mess.

I’d say it’s a Tim Burton movie made after 1996, but people say that Wednesday show is good.
After a day to digest it, there is literally nothing memorable about Beetlejuice 2 other than Monica Bellucci

I'd heard Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals was good, so I started it. Then I realized I'm not able to watch this kind of manners horror at the moment. I'll revisit it at some point, but the introduction of the Texas hooligans and the daughter's stupid teenage bullshit was too believable, set my teeth on edge. Casting Amy Adams and Isla Fisher as two parts of the same character is a bold act.

So Mickey 17 is just a quirky version of Moon then?
09-20-2024, 02:54 AM
Well, no:
Spoiler: (click to show) Mickey 17 is more like Michael Keaton's Multiplicity.

Took my son to see The Wild Robot.
Pretty damn good movie. First act felt a little rushed, but damn that second act was an emotional rollercoaster as a parent.

We watched the original version of Saturday Night Fever. It's a very very different film from the pg version. The cut version is about a good boy trying to win a dancing competition. The uncut one is a depressing, brutal film about the leader of a gang of retards trying to escape reality. It's much better.

Didn't even know there were two versions.
It's a pretty brutal film about being a poor kid with dreams of something bigger.

The strangest thing about the film is most people haven't seen the original version.

Yesterday I discovered there's a remake of Annie with a black cast. WTF. Annie is a tale for white girls. Not black girls, Asians, Indians, Latinas or any other race. It's a feel good, comfort movie that tells white girls no matter how poor they are, or how bad their situation is there will always be an Epstein waiting for them. Spreading that message to other races is just wrong.

Premise sounded really stupid and I was interested to see it. There are fun moments where it's like somebody playing Hitman as Josh Hartnett hamming it up. But it's quickly apparent the movie is a vanity project for M Night Shyamalan's daughter. Spoiler: (click to show) |
