As with all the other calls for revolution on there, it's always "won't someone else start protesting or rioting to get me the thing I want??"
As misguided as he is, at least Noodlesoup fucking did something about it. Shame that these keyboard warriors goaded him into potentially ruining his life with their limp slacktivism.

Put your money where your mouth is and do something instead of SAYING you will do something. Like moving to another country, do it. Nothing stopping you.

I have to wonder in the long run how any of these Twitter-like sites / apps will do. Even as dogshit as Twitter is now compared to a few years ago, the functionality and features seem a lot better than Blue Sky and Threads.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the proposed laws, to be tabled in parliament next week, were aimed at mitigating the "harm" social media was inflicting on Australian children.
"This one is for the mums and dads... They, like me, are worried sick about the safety of our kids online. I want Australian families to know that the government has your back," he said.
While many of the details are yet to be debated, the government said the ban will not apply to young people already on social media.
There will be no exemptions on the age limit for children who have consent from their parents. The government says that the onus will be on social media platforms to show they are taking reasonable steps to prevent access. "I don't know about you, but I get things popping up on my system that I don't want to see. Let alone a vulnerable 14-year-old," he told reporters on Thursday.

I support blocking people from who aren't adults from using social media. I think Australia or New Zealand has a thing where if you were born after a certain year, you cannot buy cigarettes as well which is good. Not sure if it'll deter people from smoking but it's a good system in place (smoking cigarettes grosses me out).

A dying one-term government in it's last death throes trying to look like it's doing something after all of its other policies have failed.
However, this policy has bipartisan support generally because the opposition is significantly influenced by the Murdoch press which wants to kill social media as much as it can. This is also not opposed by the left leaning press because it too is being squeezed by social media and would like to see it die.
This has been a result of Facebook ceasing to pay the media for its content meaning a $70 million hole in their revenue and Google also looking to reduce its payments to various Australian media which would leave an even bigger hole.
Fuck the social media companies. They're cancer anyway.
