I’ll admit it’s confusing when these guys picture deportation squads going door to door. Because these guys only know the world through fiction, so Hans Landa basically. But the strategies suggested are more removing benefits and fining companies with the expectation they will voluntarily leave?

Why could developers be afraid to tackle any topic like racism, sexism, etc. in their game beyond a super cookie cutter take? It's an inevitability, especially for universes that stick around for a really long time and ESPECIALLY for universes without a consistent writer between entries.

I've even seen it happening in my own setting the longer I spend time writing in it. Certain aspects of the cosmology I basically STARTED the story with have completely transformed into different things the more I write. Oftentimes those changes have been for the better or have been a result of me growing as a person and as a writer, but sometimes I just fuckin' forget details and replace them.

I just can't get with the TDS this time around. He didn't do half of the things he threatened, and the things he did do were like 10% as impactful as what they were intended to be. 

Also everything topic just accelerates directly into End Times wailing, which immediately inspires me to check out of a discussion. Ree also has a thread about Trump plans to *gasp* cut medicaid and food stamps and *shock* lower taxes. Once upon a time these were bread-and-butter republican talking points that were their primary appeal (at least to fiscally conservative voters). I bet they actually made good money off of the game. Japanese developers are a lot cheaper to hire than EU/US, and you can probably crunch them til they pop. It certainly made more money than Lego Horizon!

I loved the idea of Astro Bot winning as it was a superb game made by 60 people that served as both a crowd pleasing platformer with some of the best gameplay the genre has seen outside of a Nintendo console and it was also a reality check for it's publisher's misguided live service obsession.
