The whole Ozempic will destroy evil Big Food is so overplayed. Go to a combini or supermarket in skinny Japan and there's still plenty of junk and processed food. It makes Americans seem completely devoid of freewill. Impact the margins? Maybe.

I also don't buy the whole "Now that I'm on Ozempic, chocolate tastes absolutely vile, but I can't stop eating swiss chard, it's so delicious". That sounds too much like the obese people who lost a lot of weight and healthy eating became their whole personality.

People expected her to protest and push back when a man who recently said "a man cannot become a woman" in regard to her told her she can't use the women's bathroom, that she has to use the men's bathroom. Which I don't want people to brush off because she's trans so 'that's the fallback' but instead think to how quickly you'd expect women you know to swallow being told they were banned from using the women's bathroom because they weren't real women.

Even at the bare minimum I didn't expect her to reduce that basic aspect of her humanity down to a disagreement at a time where trans people are still being assaulted or murdered for using the bathroom of their gender, and rights to such spaces are directly in the line of sight of the incoming administration alongside healthcare and education. The Capitol and its bathrooms are a safer place to protest this than what many trans women may face in the future. Fundamentally if you aren't willing to defend your own rights as a woman how can you hope to do so for the community against the exact same attacks and rhetoric you've just yielded to.

Not to mention putting out a statement that not only regards it as a disagreement but does nothing to push back on it in concept or call it out for the danger it represents, and spends half of it speaking to the good in those currently calling all trans women men. On the one day of the year we face the reality of what transphobia costs the community.

It's immensely disappointing, I'm glad to see AOC having the bite to directly call it for what it is and the dangers it represents though. That's what we actually need.

Summary: victims of abuse need to be held responsible for their passivity in the face of such abuse. If you cannot push back against your abuser, then you cannot be considered responsible or capable of protecting others. This is a normal, common, and women-friendly way of understanding the world.

In related news, I hear that Kyuuji and friends are accepting suggestions for a Trans equivalent for "Uncle Tom". Any ideas, folks?

McBride is smart and not acting out of her feelings. Republicans are obviously trying to get her to use a women's bathroom after this so they can censure and bar her from voting - showing Delawareans that they can't vote for a trans women because then they lose their house representation, while also putting trans women in the news cycle as aggressive women's space invaders, and killing public sympathy for trans women.

Instead, she's interrupted the Republican transphobia-stoking and dem-vote killing strategy. She's put them in the position of threatening her with violence and acting histrionic while she comes across as a normal friendly woman who's just trying to do a job while these children throw fits. She'll be using the men's bathrooms and showing representatives - both Republican and democrats who are harboring unspoken transphobia - how ridiculous and wrong the law is. She's doing all this at great personal cost, being dead named and degendered in public.

People are too quick to turn on their own when there's a difference in approach for how to move forward. People piling on McBride for "throwing trans women under a bus" are acting like activated traumatized people lashing out at their friends. Which maybe they are. McBride is a victim here, and she's done nothing wrong in saying she'll follow the rules of the place she works in to be able to continue to do her job. She's not put herself in a position to be chased out and she's showing what a trans woman with grit but without aggression looks like.

Those bathroom laws are coming in whether McBride says something about them being wrong or not, no matter what bathroom she herself uses. She's making sure lawmakers can see what those bathroom laws mean and what kind of feelings they create in cis people when they see them in action.

I hope people stop focusing on how McBride reacts to bullying and transphobia and put their focus back on the bullies and the transphobia itself.

If any group of fans is capable of wishful thinking, it's Shenmue fans. You can post a picture of someone's hand, and it will mean in some way Shenmue something is happening.

Admittedly, I never played 3 despite adoring 1 & 2 because I didn't want to tarnish my feelings toward the series, but I did kickstart it and buy multiple retail copies, feels weird to have spent like 500 dollars towards a game I never played. If they ever did put forward work to 'remaster' Shenmue 3 into a better, more relevant game, I would be elated.

That also isn't going to happen, I refuse to believe this series is anything but dead now.
