It basically combines the tech trends of the past 10 - 15 years or so.
VR/AR, 3D, 3D Audio, Generated Avatar, Kinect-like motion sensing etc. .

When you look at porn at work, your projected eyes won't tell on you  Wink

It's mostly corporate nonsense though, ZOOM meetings won't get any more exciting and neither will Excel.
For movies it's neat but these companies always forget that some of us prefer to watch movies with other people.

Cook says the experience is better than anything your state-of-the-art TV, surround set-up, computer and VR headset can provide.

With this product Apple literally said: "Fuck poor people"

The ultimate wearable computer to block out all the poors on your flight, make 3D videos of your travels, have corpo boardroom meetings with a generated avatar of yourself while you're toobin' to another tab and experience all your streaming services just by yourself in an exclusive virtual theatre.

In fact you won't even have to look people in the eye as you interact with them, you can just 'pretend' to look at your kids while the babysitter tries to explain why daddy looks like a lobotomized robocop to your crying kids.

All this for just $3499

Even if they only sell 1 million of these, they'll walk away with $4 billion

Apple knows the boomers don't want VR goggles, they want S P A T I A L  C O M P U T E R S

A million is highly optimistic, even for the moronic Apple dick suckers who swear that Apple Maps is "good now" and happily plonked down their cash for overpriced trash like the HomePod. This shit is stupid and the category it's trying to conquer is dead.

I'm seeing other companies make these same moves. They know the average consumer is having a hard time, so instead they release overly expensive 'Premium' products for the richest of the rich that require relatively small sales to turn a profit.

I've already seen the Apple bro's on Twitter say things like: "This is only a $289 monthly payment for 12 months."

Like all Apple products, the only reason to buy it is so you can show the logo off to your friends. If you're into that kind of thing, you don't care about its functionally or its price.

MKBHD seems pretty positive in his hands-on impressions.

It reminds me of the first-gen Apple Watch, where they tried loads of weird ideas until they knew enough about how people used it to focus it into a health and fitness tracker and started releasing cheaper ones.

I think it looks interesting but buying one isn't even a consideration until we get the £500 Apple Vision SE or whatever in a few years.

So they basically re-engineered Google Glass in a form factor that makes you look even more of a complete fucking tool.

the killer feature is the AR which is genuinely cool, except they have to actually support it and find devs who will aggressively support it, and they won't

like imagine a group of D&D nerds who all own their own headset and you don't need a map or minis anymore, you all gather around the table and see this rich video game-like landscape full of animation right on your table, and can still see everyone else and the pizza and mt dew

what is seen can even be tailored to each individual player because you all have the headsets

that's the dream, but it won't happen until it's affordable

Part of me hopes this does take off and gradually lowers the entry level.

This thing seems so over thought. Seeing your uncanny dead avatar eyes on the front screen? Imagine the cost and battery drain for that? They couldn’t crack the transparent screen problem and it’s this bad compromise.

Also, highlighting a feature that tells you to move away from your iPad for eye heath, followed by a headset with screens mm from your eyes… and the IR beams tracking your eye position. Amazing.

Most people I spoke to that are excited about it want it for productivity. Having an 'unlimited' number of screens and screen space seemed appealing to them and then it was 'only' the cost of 2 or 3 high-end monitors or 50% cheaper than a Apple XDR(?) Display.
I don't

When you think about it, $3500 is too cheap

$3500 to upgrade your shitbox studio apartment to a manhattan penthouse

$3500 to upgrade your shitty office to meta hq daycare

$3500 to upgrade your nissa versa to a ferrari

$3500 to upgrade your economy flight ticket to unlimited first class tickets for life

$3500 to upgrade your wife to a 10/10 twink bf

the wef were almost correct when they said you will own nothing and be happy. you only need to own the apple vision pro. and you can buy it on credit anyway

looking forward to preordering 12 of these so i can live life wirelessly 24/7
