A game they put on ice for 15 years and pulled out of the archives. Created in an alternate dimension where Call of Duty, Destiny and Fortnite never happened and it competes with Duke Nukem Forever.

It has all the mid 2000's vibes of HALO, Half Life 2 and Metroid Prime.

This is what's hilarious. I've been there as a kid with an Atari 2600, NES, SNES etc all the way through. This shit has never been a cheap hobby and paying AU$100 for a game in the 90s was not the same as paying AU$100 for a game in 2025.

The problem is that this is the first console launch for many of these retards where their parents aren't paying for it and it's not close to Christmas.

I agree, 90 euro is indeed fucking insane, that's AU$160.

I'm pretty insulated here because for some reason Nintendo games have been ridiculously cheap the whole Switch generation (AU$80-$90 with most being regularly discounted to well below that). Most new releases have cost me about AU$70 at most.

Switch 2 game prices are a little more steep, but are still cheaper than PS5 prices by a bit (PS5 first party are typically $125).

While demons are portrayed as “evil fantasy race”… there is demons that want to  genuinely understand humans… the results are not exactly encouraging. Is treated as a tragedy.

This is explored further in the previous DMC anime by Madhouse where there are good demons living among humans disguised and just want to be left alone. There is mention of stuff like this throughout DMC.

Look, I’m not DMC fanboy and I’m more casual about those games and lore… but you know there has never been a focus about that, not even when the series got political with DmC.  And the problem people have is not that there is “good demons” but is trying to be an allegory for refugees/immigrants and the War on Terror (  ). It's a plot point that I've seen over and over again in fiction, where their is a secret (always or nearly always evil) order/organization/cabal/cult that controls everything or secretly controls world governments/humanity/manipulating events/history etc. From Seele in Evangelion, the Templars in Evangelion, the MANY groups in DC and Marvel comics, The mage nonsense in the World and Chronicles of Darkness just to name a few.

The trope itself is so overdone for me that even without what I'm about to say, I just don't want to see it again unless actually done well (which it rarely is). Like the villain going, "All those random events/tragedies in your life! It was actually me/us!" which is always treated as dramatic shock... Despite being so damn overplayed that it would a bigger twist it was just all random chance and bad luck; or the writer revealing everything in the story so far, no matter how illogical/impractical, was manipulated by some unmentioned cabal, undermining the agency of the previous villains and again, so overdone. I'm so sick of it, I made it a rule (along with no Elves) to never use it in my own writing.

However their is another aspect that has made me not like this trope anymore and feel a bit uncomfortable when writers use it without much thought or care... The fact that many people truly believe in this shit in real life, especially people in power like Trump who have made it clear want people like me (autistic, trans, lesbian) dead. Like it's hard for me not to think about "Deep state" shit when I see these types of organizations in fiction now and feeling like fiction writers pushing this trope so damn hard isn't unintentionally giving credence to really dangerous real world conspiracies; similar to how writers are all to happy to push the Ancient aliens trope without much care or thought about the racist implications of it.

I've discussed similar subjects in the past about writers needing to be careful pushing bad/outdated/racist history and science in the works and I feel like the same applies here. Or at the very least need to be willing to acknowledge the problematic elements of the trope and real-world implications and events using that trope entails.

I fully admit, this might just be me overthinking stuff.
