This is the tamest thing they've done. Their website lists all of it. They've done much bigger things, as have been evidenced throughout the thread and have had multiple threads here dedicated to their actions. They've recently been recruiting people by showing at universities, and now a gaming event. They've also been at other entertainment venues like golf tournaments, theatres, and awards shows. Chaining themselves, blocking roads, vandalising and protesting oil company headquarters like Shell, home office, council offices, think thank hubs, energy firms, etc.

It was some sauce over a glass screen of Sunflowers, barely call that vandalism, looked far worse than it actually did. I would hate them if they intentionally damaged such a significant piece of art.

They do target banks. They target all sorts of places. The fact that we have *checks numbers* 277 members of Resetera posting in a thread about this latest demonstration and their march at the end of this month in London shows why they target diverse events.

How many of us would've noticed if they'd just sprayed up another HSBC branch? How many of us saw their other demonstrations over the last week or so? The Les Mis one? Or the universities that they demonstrated at? Probably very few.

And how many of us were not aware of climate change before this event? Seriously, has anyone here really learned anything that will impact anything they do?

You keep putting this out there and like, that is great but at the same time I don't really get why you seem so insistent on becoming the arbiter of what is and isn't worthwhile when it comes to protest. You deem it not worthwhile, but then no one is asking you to divert from what you're doing to go spray paint at the next tournament or join in with something you don't feel is beneficial. When working among as diverse a range of people as climate change activists are, the range of action will be just as diverse. Consequently you will never reach complete alignment on what should and shouldn't be done, or what is and isn't a net positive.

I don't think she explains why they're focusing on the supply side of the issue.

They're giving more licenses because the global economy needs more and more fossil fuels every year to keep growing. Even with all the added renewables.

But the issue is not on the supply side (i.e. oil companies, coal companies etc), the issue is on the demand side (i.e. everyone else that is using the energy we produce burning oil, coal and gas).

We mine and drill because we need that energy to keep the economy going.

So the answer is not to stop the supply but to lower the demand.
