I grew up in the Southern US when it was undergoing desegregation. "for whites only" was a real thing and other races, especially blacks, were treated horribly because of a misconceived sense of superiority based on a superficial reason. This is a very painful reminder of a past that we need to acknowledge, but learn from. Any type of segregation is morally questionable and for a game that has gone so far to promote inclusion and equality between different groups to have a "for Lalafel only" area in the game is truly sad. Even in jest, there are some areas I believe are painful to joke about. It is as offensive as "for Japanese only" or "for Americans only" on a venue, real or imagined. Hopefully SE can get back on track with their community of inclusion and equality and grow past these hateful reminders of our past.

If it's true that republicans have preemptively filed suit(s) if Biden is not the nominee,
If foreign powers would prefer a Trump presidency,
If Biden dying in office leads to a guaranteed Harris presidency,
If comparing an old man to another based on on imagery rather than rhetoric ,

But simply, it was known Joe Biden was an old white male when he was chosen for 2020(I wanted Warren). That was a large part of his appeal. That basic fact hasn't changed.

Human beings are social creatures and institutions, parties, movements are built off of the ways that we group together and organize into hierarchies. One of the ways we do that is through the silencing of dissent, keeping people in line, sweeping unpleasant things under the rug. Accusing those who criticize our leaders of having ulterior motives or being otherwise morally deficient. If we want independent voters to see the Democratic party as defending democracy and democratic norms, we need to be wary of anti-democratic behavior in our own ranks as well. I think it's one of the big reasons the drama around "hiding" Biden has been so damaging and demoralizing.

Yes, I completely agree. The democratic party is not a holy object that can do no wrong. If they slide further towards say racism, or hiding problems, or supporting genocide, then that needs to be able to be called out and compared too.

Trump might seem exceptionally terrible, but I learned from earlier moments in history just how banal evil can be. How quickly, especially with cowards surrounding leaders, things can get worse. The democratic party definitely does have people or supporters that would do things way over the top to keep the party line going. It's a sobering lesson, not something to ban people for. This feels like part of a larger conversation around tone-policing in this forum.
