"Artists" have been almost universally difficult to work with for hundreds of years. 

In the modern world they have created hostile work spaces and have leveraged their specific and somewhat scarce skills to make creative work difficult and costly. 

There are genuinely visionary people who make creative work better and drive entire mediums forward, but the rank and file texture artists of the video game industry have never been those people.

I feel sorry for anyone who loses their job to technology, and they won't be the only ones, but damn if these sorts of people don't make it easy to just turn a blind eye to the plight of a whole category of workers.

I don't have personal experience with this, but from what I've read the world of online art commissions is a goddamn nightmare 

a few years back there was a massive push to "get paid what you're worth," i.e. ask for way more than you're actually worth and hope to sucker idiots out of their money, and for cheap artists to stop legitimately undercutting the greedy artists pushing to raise the average price

so there are a bunch of shitty middle school level artists with an inflated sense of value asking for $100 and 2-3 weeks for their terrible art

Although personally, I do think there's some nuance to the age of consent discussion, mostly because, like it or not, it's entirely possible for a 16 year old girl to look like an adult woman, it's still just a terrible outlook to be an adult and actually go through with dating a teenager still in high school. The age gap is just far too wide, and unless she lied about her age, there's no other practical excuse for a grown man to actually go through with it.

Still though, whenever Resetera does their typical dogpile of how utterly revolted and disgusted they are with something, my gut reaction is often "yeah yeah, shut up, some of you fuckers are probably just as deviant, if not worse." I mean the reaction to this is pretty similar to a man saying they have a preference for submissive, attractive, and modest adult women, a woman who leans republican, or a woman who laughs at transphobic jokes, so how do we know it's not all just blind virtue signaling?

It's a DLC that can be wound up into a tight, much more enjoyable experience similar to DS1 and DS3, but was designed with this open world and "atmosphere" because they had to stay thematically consistent. For some reason, this tickles the primate brain of most FromSoft fanboys, as opposed to the actual gameplay. Which is understandable. We all have our wants and needs, and what makes games good for me will be subjective, relative to them. They think dirt and rocks are food, I think they belong in 72 hour involuntary psychiatric hold.
The bosses? Great. The fights? Iconic. The story? As expected, but fantastic nonetheless. Now instead of nothingburger open area and vast distance between these special moments, consider the gameplay the same way it was attended to in DS3. But that would mean it becoming nearly a full game scope wise, and if I see it being thrown in the GOTY pot I expect it to be a complete game.
I'm happy with the Balatro experience as a complete game. I'm unhappy with remakes being contenders, or DLC. Throw the DLC into its own category. Throw remakes into their own category.
The only positive from this is game companies being held to standard for pumping out waste into the content trough. Eat up piggies, eat up.
