Some lore 

I do think there'd be value in non-Japanese children using the game to learn about Japan, but I am unsure if the market for kids games in the West and Australia is big enough for that. I just know as a kid we loved getting story books and post cards and the like from our Dad's work trips to Japan and learning about it, especially Yokohama

Leaf (my main little) proffered the super mario RPG remake though, albeit they got really triggered playing the Birdo boss fight and the raven boss fight after. these things happen though. Honestly, they even like Princess Peach more since there's hirs3s, mermaids, and figure skating

I find the ds4 and the current cbox controller bad for my arf-ritis but switch lite is less bad. The xbox controller just sucks though, maybe get a compatible 8bitdo controller

It's like those fake bids on Ebay. When the algorithms see activity it'll likely push up your account in the rankings.
Plus the bandwagon effect. If you see an account without donations you are less likely to donate. When some kind soul has donated money for tasty hamburgers you are more likely to donate yourself.

The only thing I can think of is they’re trying to boost the visibility of their accounts to lure people in.

I'm sure there will be a new DK game soon. It's so sad that all of Nintendo's furry series missed the Switch. I really want DK but I feel it needs a strong sell, I'm not sure there's a big want for many normal 2d platformers outside of weirdos who post on forums. I think 3D platformer or maybe something new like a srpg or something. DK in new York would be cool
