Not to defend Hamas but nearly half of the Oct 7 attack deaths were IDF/ security forces, 789 people as per wikipedia. They targeted military forces. It wasn't indiscriminate like you're implying. Make no mistake I dont think anyone deserved to die here but the Oct 7 attack wasn't unprompted.

Hezbollah is in charge of basic government and healthcare services, when they say "had a way of ensuring they could control their delivery to the militant group" there is absolutely ZERO way to ensure they only go to actual militant soldiers, let alone who would be in proximity to them. Hence several medical professionals that were killed/critically wounded who had these pagers too.

While I think this attack was likely illegal by international law and has serious moral issues, I doubt that it is important to Israel or many outside observers (at least in the west) whether everyone affected was actually a combattant. Working in a militant islamist and antisemitic organisation in any capacity will not net you any sympathy among non-islamists and especially among average westerners I would suppose.

Similar thing happening with the new Hogwash thing that's maybe happening and some LGBTQ site (was it pinknews?) being like "which trans actor do we want to see in it".
