I don't think Lars really understands what "organic growth" means. It certainly doesn't mean the large scale and rapid acquisition of studios and IP. That would be artificial growth.

I’m playing ffxv for the first time since like 2016 or whenever it came out. I got up to Chapter 8 on my original playthrough and decided to restart from scratch. Turns out the game is pretty ok up to chapter 8 and then after that it gets reallllllll shitty. Chapter 13, holy shit just overly drawn out terrible gameplay like fuck what happened? Gonna finish it tomorrow prolly and never play it again.

They honestly should've just made it a spinoff where I can hang out with the boys in my coleman's tent. Survival games been big for years.

I tried to play Helldivers II but Sonys servers are absolutely cooked.
perhaps those devs can now try to make good games instead
halo dev should have cooked one decent halo game out of all the tries 343 has had

Halo Infinite’s campaign was pretty good. Barebones but as a foundation for games to follow, it managed to feel like Halo in an open world. A better direction and attempt than 4 and 5.
Multiplayer was some free to play thing that I guess people thought was too pricey to get into.

Did they ever get split screen coop in the game officially? I remember they promised it would be in at launch but you had to use some obscure method to access it that wasn't official.

As I understand it, Switch is pretty standard stuff. Not bespoke hardware. It can be reliably emulated on Android phones. It’d be weird if it’s not backwards compatible. Unless they decide to go digital only and restrict BC to that.
I don’t know the limit of switch carts. Think I’ve seen games up to 16gb. Some PS4 and forward games are over 80gb.

If Nintendo goes with Nvidia again BC is certainly on the table and from all I've gathered that seems to be the case.
Third parties are also receiving devkits in bigger numbers now (my bro said the delay happened because they couldn't ship enough devkits to third parties yet because of the higher than expected demand). Rumor has it the reveal will happen in June.

Quote:In 2021, Sony announced it was working on a next-generation headset it described as “a next-gen VR system that enhances everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input.” Roughly a year later, PlayStation VR2 was officially revealed, with a release date set for February 2023. Gee, who could have predicted this?

They sold those left-over screens at a premium
Seems that after all the Ponies grabbed their $200/£200/AU$330 WiiU controller Portal, everyone else just shrugged and ignored it like anyone with an ounce of self-respect and common sense would have.

gEA, Soyny, Microcuck, Emtranser: Making games is difficult and expensive our profit margins are just 6%. We are a smol indie dev we don't have it in us anymore.
Chad Enix: We just lost a billion dollars and recalled half the disks, lets buy some Porsches Why do these tech nerds embarrass themselves like this constantly? Remember when Doom 2016 came out and everyone was like: "Well, they'll NEVER be able to port Eternal..." And then they ported Eternal and The Witcher and Metro and a whole bunch of current gen games and then they changed their tune and said, "Well, Hogwarts Legacy is going to be a terrible late port and then it came out and was amazing too. Yeah, "tech" guys on Twatter are usually wrong.

(03-02-2024, 02:28 AM)Potato wrote: Yeah, "tech" guys on Twatter are usually wrong. There is basically two camps right now - 1. The Switch 2 uses the 'outdated' T239 in a 8GB or 16GB setup at $349 - $399 that they originally wanted to use for the Switch Pro (OLED + Spec bump). The hardware includes tensor cores(RT/DLSS 2.0) but the DLA has been removed to keep costs down (i.e. DLSS will require CPU power). - 2. The Switch 2 hardware has been upgraded during development either with a custom Nvidia part or a Samsung Exynos. which is why devkits are in short supply and the launch is delayed to 2025. The price sits somewhere between the $399 - $499 range. I think Nintendo will launch something that performs close to the Xbox Series S at lower resolutions but with DLSS support and they will also fix the mistake that MS made with the RAM because a lack of useable RAM is killing UE5 games on the platform. So I'm going with a T239 with a 12GB RAM setup. They know the PS5 / Series X line-up isn't that deep so pushing to $499 for a handful of ports isn't worth it when plenty of games are still being released on PS4 right now. The success of the system depends mostly on how quickly they can release their first party games, if they can continue to grow franchises and how easy it is to bring over your original Switch library with framerates and resolution bumps. |
