But my life is a mess right now. I'm fatigued all the time, and I keep getting into shitty arguments because feeling like I'm on the correct side are the only times I feel driven. This led to my eating a ban here because I wouldn't shut up in multiple PalWorld threads and turned it into trolling. Based on what I read in their own words, it is the latter. I stupidly watched a YouTube commentary the other day (in my defense the person sometimes creates amusing concise evisceration videos and I was working on some data stuff so listened) and within it was a bit of a throwaway sentence that struck me to think about. Many of these people, and not just the trans ones but "social justice" types in general, have this sort of platonic ideal of concepts and struggle with more concrete material realities. For example, when they think of "woman" it's this ideal conceptual form rather than a diverse multitude of actual women. Hence why their description is always this mess of stereotypes that reveal their personal hangups. 

As such, when presented with exceptions (women who can't get pregnant, women who don't like nails and shopping, women who have short hair, women who aren't sex workers, etc.) it invalidates the "definition" and their response is to essentially declare the concept meaningless so as to advocate for it being replaced with their own personal definition and damn the consequences for anyone else. I'm focused on the trans woman thing here in this example but it really "spoke" to me because you can think about all the other examples just on ResetERA.com alone, such as nobody's ability to define capitalism or their constant lapses into really racist things because they conceive of people who happen to be certain races as these platonic ideal forms and not actual people.

I've only given this a small amount of thought, though in retrospect it opens a whole new understanding for me in reading Marxist/critical/queer/etc. theory writings if I assume they think the same way, but hopefully you can see where I'm going with this. They're so tired and exhausted because the real world does not conform to their imagined ideal forms (that they assume everyone else must share) and so everything always seems like it's completely out of control. Their inclination into extreme thinking thus leads them to seeing the consequences of this lack of personal control as catastrophic like genocide or the planet literally burning up or Disney demanding no more Black people or women in movies.

You see this in the assumption by many trans/non-binary/etc. people that cishets are constantly happy about being the gender or sex or sexuality they are. The reality that people don't experience "gender euphoria" doesn't compute. No, certain women can't just like shopping, this MUST BE gender coded even though men love shopping too. So I, now a woman, MUST experience gender euphoria when shopping because it proves I'm a woman. OMG I'm feeling such pleasure at being a woman, tapping into my womanly essence. It's all really logical, just based on completely wishful and absurd premises. (Which is why it deserves mockery, especially for how sexist is generally is.)

To be fair, this is basically the same reasoning as happened on the opposite side, when that one lawyer or whatever said, "They're going to attack my client; look, they admitted they plan to punch Nazis" and the response from the left was "Lol, he just admitted his client was a Nazi! See, we're not making it up!" And the right was like, "No, he's not, but we know YOU call him a Nazi, and then you said you plan to punch Nazis, so that would include him in your intent, even though he's not really a Nazi." I'm sure I got some details wrong, but that was the logic.

Here, their reasoning is, "No, we're not sex offenders, but we know that YOU call us sex offenders, and that you plan to jail sex offenders, so that would include us, even though we are not actually sex offenders."

This got me thinking about an incident this morning which has no relation to what you said, but just made me think about how one of the Reeeeeeeesetera members would have reacted.

So, what happened is, I have been meaning to switch over the pedals on my bike for a while and, after much frustration last night, only managed to get one of them off. The other is stuck fast and I couldn't budge it. Anyway, I sprayed some WD40 on it and went to bed. I woke up this morning and went out to the back yard to get the rubber mallet from the toolbox. When I got outside, I realised that it pissed down rain overnight and the whole garden was soaked. Didn't think much of it, until I got to the toolbox and saw a fucking snake (probably just a green tree snake) sitting on top of my toolbox just chilling and trying to escape the rain.

Still with me? Wondering what this has to do with maladjusted 40-something fake women on a video game forum?

Well, my first reaction was to swear, then back off slowly and go back inside. I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't get to the mallet to fix my bike problem, but I don't fuck with snakes (even non-venomous ones) and I guess shit happens sometimes. That's a normal response.

Reading benji's transphobia though made me realise that the response of one of the 40-something fake women and misogynistic progressives would have been to have a complete hissy fit about not being able to do the thing they wanted to do and then they probably would have had a meltdown. This would have been followed up with a thread on resetera where they would have been told that it wasn't a big deal and they should get over it. This would have led to a massive thread backfire and then several bannings, probably including the OP. Either this or they would have fucked with the snake, got bitten and then posted a "HALP, I've been bitten by a snake, what should I do?" thread.

What I am trying to say is that I agree with benji that the resetera type's "expectations vs reality" problem extends to more than just gender issues. It is a problem with all of their life because they just don't actually live life in reality. Everything is filtered through a weird-arse videogame/capshit movie/anime lens where they think real people are just like the people in their enterntainment media.

On adhering to gender norms, there are two Japanese shows that explore it in a society that is more gendered than most western ones.

One is Tokusatsu Gagaga. It’s about a young lady in her 20s obsessed with tokusatsu (power rangers) and the embarrassment it would cause if discovered. There’s a whole backstory about her mother wanting her to be into girly things. Along the way she makes friends with other adults obsessed with childish hobbies, but ultimately they still keep it private within their circle. The overall thesis at the end is to be true to yourself but also don’t be selfish about shunning parents and society.

The other is Ojisan wa Kawaii Mono ga Osuki. About an office worker in his 40s who likes cute things. Similar development to the other show. He makes friends to share his secrets but he doesn’t fuck up his whole life to play with stuffed animals or whatever.

Writing that out, it’s a similar theme to Persona 4. It’s funny because you often see Americans complaining that Kanji isn’t gay and Naoto isn’t trans.

They don't understand what being a woman is, genuinely cannot understand it, have no structured basis of comparison for even creating that woman identity in the first place due to not knowing any or not understanding a woman on a personal, human, empathetic level at all.

Women are objects, with a set of essential characteristics, and becoming a woman is merely performatively adopting those things in the real world.

Talking about female character design in Era might be one of the most frustrating, talking-to-a-wall things I've ever done on the internet. Am I insane? Do I simply not have the neurons to enjoy a overtly sexualized design? Why would yuo want to go back to the old, sexualized pop-porny look of Lara Croft?

That's why I engage so much less in this forum as of late. It's filled with men who like to think of themselves as kinda open-minded and they are not. And yeah I'm gonna fucking judge and bash the users that I see enjoying a design with a camel toe (or literally anything like that). This forum does genuinely, honest to god, gaslight you in terms of anything regarding women or feminism. And at this point I just don't care about bringing it up to staff because seemingly it doesn't matter (after the thousand instances we've had of the same kind of attitude).

While their creams are very good from back when I used them, reminder that CeraVe is in the BDS list and directly supports I$rael, if that's something that's important to you. It's kinda hard because so many skincare brands are owned by much bigger corporations, and importing or finding quality equivalents isn't always easy.
