I pretty much went Steam(Deck) / Switch and GamePass only (until it runs out of Steam).
Games are either exclusive to Switch, cheaper on Switch or play better on Switch.
When performance and graphics matter my RTX4070 Ti is always the better option than the Series X.
Don't feel like investing in Xbox anymore. I think my Xbox Series X also won't last another year, the fans have gotten quite noisy and I have to hold the case at times so it stops making a rattling noise. It also fails to read discs at times. If it dies I'll probably pick up a 4K Blu Ray player instead. Valve will probably keep improving the Steam 'console' experience so a 'cheap' PC disguised as a console without Steam seems redundant overall.
Switch games will be backwards compatible with Switch 2 so those will be playable for a good while longer and on Steam everything is backwards compatible or fixed with mods anyway.
With 1 day left to go on the eShop sale I picked up
- LEGO City Undercover was just 4.75, so why not?
- Luminious Avenger Xi 2 just 10.19
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Expansion Pass for 19.99

Saw Illusion mentioned last page. Amazing dev with games like Rapelay and Battle Raper. Seems their company died last year. :(
Anyways, time to ask for the Lego game everyone wants.
Lego Concord. When?

On Steam I ended up buying
- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
- DOOM 1 + 2
- DOOM 3
- DOOM 64 (already have this on Switch, but all 3 were cheaper than buying DOOM 1 + 2 and 3 seperately)
- DOOM Eternal Season One Pass (take note, this is 'unlisted' but on sale anyway for 11.99. Cheaper than the seperate expansions at 7.99 each)
- Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic
Total: ~40
Humble Bundle
- Crysis 1 Remastered
- Crysis 2 Remastered
- Crysis 3 Remastered
- Star Wars Dark Forces
- System Shock
- Prey (already own this, see the free games thread)
- DOOM 2016 (already own this, see the free games thread)
Total: 18.00 (almost the same price as just System Shock on Steam)
Just realized another thing that makes steam awesome "free" remasters.
I own the original versions of Bioshock 1 + 2 and Infinite and that means I automatically own the Bioshock 1 + 2 Remasters.
It doesn't always work that way but usually does so buying "just" DOOM 3 got me DOOM 3 + DOOM 3: BFG Edition + DOOM 3: Ressurection of Evil Expansion.
Along with Star Ocean: Second Story R (30.00), Shin Migami Tensei V: Vengeance (25.00) and Tomb Raider I+II+III (20.00)
Considering DLCs now count as games that adds up to about ~€168.00 for 21 games (or €8 per game).

I'm thinking LEGO Mega Man could be next. I've been wondering what Capcom could do to bring Mega Man back and that seems the most obvious thing to get kiddos back into Mega Man stuff and would make sense for the toys too.
Also I've caught some wind of Nintendo Fortnite earlier this year as a possible 'seperate' Fortnite universe like they're doing with Disney. It was apparently pitched like how they handle Smash Bros. with stylized characters and Nintendo themed weapons and items (Splatoon, Star Fox blasters etc.).

WTF is the Top Gear website (yes, that Top Gear) running a review for Dragon Age The Veilguard?
I can understand reviewing racing games, but a fantasy RPG? Who the hell is going to the Top Gear website for general gaming reviews.
0/4 tires.
Not enough cars in the game.
Is car/sedan an option in the pronouns?

San Francisco UBI shuttered. Osaka office shuttered. Sydney being ramped down, whatever that means. 143 ppl plus another 134 ppl. out of work, the cheapest studio UBI has that isn't focused on mobile shuttered. Not like Osaka has many developers… and there are rumors that Platinum Games won't be benefiting from two major contracts soon…
I should just start delivering pizzas.
I forgot I installed that and never played it.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
Is in the humble bundle

They also cut the Prince of Persia team earlier and the guy behind those Mario + Rayman games left, so that studio is probably not going to last long either.
I clocked just 7 hours on "Xbox" according to the Xbox Year in Review. Probably my lowest playtime on Xbox ever.
Most played game 4 hours of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on PC.

Rumor is it sold just 1.5 million copies so far.
For reasons only known to EA executives they expected this game to do well during the holiday season but there is no sign of that.
It more or less completely cratered shortly after launch.
I remember when I first had a million selling game on my résumé, and it was considered wildly profitable. We had like 12 devs on it. I miss those halcyon days…
I'm not believing the Game Awards hype about Half Life 3 being announced there or any other big reveals.
Unless something leaks before the show I doubt there's anything 'big' that we don't yet know about. We might get a GTA release date and we might see the new Tomb Raider and Battlefield and stuff like that. When there is actual big stuff it always leaks. age ratings, YouTube translators, retailers or simply folks responsible for building the sets.
Nothing related to GTA will ever be shown at the TGA's.
Switch 2 leak.
Nintendo waited so long to announce this thing that makers of accessoires beat them to it.
If the left is wrapped and the right is raw, it seems we'll get White / Neon Blue/Red and Dark Gray as color options at launch.

No chance they go with the same colours again.
They need to differentiate it otherwise you end up with the same issues that WiiU had which was that people were confused about it being a new console.
Videogame "journalism" was fun when I was studying. Helping to run the website, working with other people, writing articles, trying to compete with other outlets.
We never did it for the money, although the free games were a nice bonus. Most of my gang like myself moved on to do better things either inside or outside the gaming industry.
I don't see how that is any different from the bros that run YouTube channels, launch crypto coins or mod Discord servers today.
Games was the thing that interested us at the time but it might has well have been cooking, music or fishing, the point was never the games.
It seems to me that a lot of these jaded game journalists simply want the high school band to stay together, something that was just never going to happen regardless of the economics involved. I don't think younger generations with their Twitch channels, V-tubers, Genshin Impacts and Fortnite servers are missing out on anything. We mostly had to make due with text and images and we couldn't easily create our own media or record our own footage outside of photoshopping some artwork and screenshots. It just wasn't possible without a devkit.
If I told my 16 year old self that in 2024 lots of 'real' games would be Free to Play or only $10 a month I'd instantly want to go to that future.
Games Journalism is less than 40 people?
Danny who loves sniffing his own farts, seems to forget the world isnt made up of just America or his clique of 'journalists'
Love to see Danny get fully roasted in the comments too.
Fuck that guy, blocked me over some bullshit too. Probably had something to do with Kingdome Come Deliverance.
I still love watching Jeff Gerstmann and the Nextlander crew, but they also have a horrible stick up their ass against that game.
All because in 1500 Bohemia there aren't any fucking people of color in it.
Get real you nerds

Another Switch 2 leak shows the device inside the case in the blue/red color scheme.
But that's a third party case manufacturer. They may just be assuming they'll be the colours. That's just a 3D render

I’m out of touch with how people use the Switch, but it’s a surprise they’re not only keeping the detachable joycons, they’re adding a trigger when used sideways.
Personally would’ve preferred a dpad instead of the four buttons. I get why they’re consistent with the Switch 1. It’s very Nintendo how after 7 years they never released an official left joycon with a dpad. Yet they understood the value by having it built in the Switch Lite.

I'm just glad that the detachable controllers meant that other companies could release better controllers for the Switch- Hori Split Pad and Split Pad Compact are the GOATs.

Finished STALKER 2 and now straight into Crysis Remastered. Its 2007 again
Last chance to pick up Forza Horizon 4 edition before its gone forever, and fuck you MS for still listing it at $60 MSRP more than 5 years later so that 80% discount is nowhere near as cheap as a game they literally wont be able to sell anymore should be
Latest Switch 2 leaks. The red/blue version is probably the Mario Kart 9 limited launch edition.
From various other sources
- Mid march release (in US at least)
- Xenoblade X and Mario Kart 9 are the first party launch titles
Rumor has it the leaks are happening because Nintendo has pushed it forward a bit because of the possible tariffs so some people have the final retail units in their hands
Some renders of third party case makers are a bit sloppy with the X/Y swapped because they can't yet use the official renders but they are using those as reference to create their own.
Just a bit messy overall, probably because they waited so long to reveal it.
