I'm gonna be real, we're happy we can finally do it. I've been trying to get people to stop using it as a source for years now. I've made threads about how bad it's getting, about how some of the fastest growing accounts are literally just Nazis, only for them to get trolled. At one point we literally had to issue a staff post in the Musk thread to stop posters from attacking people who left Twitter for other sites. Yes, there's technical issues that need overcoming, but I'm happy we can finally ask our tech team to tackle them and I'm not the only one on staff who feels that way.

Don't mistake my wanting to maintain the past with a hesitance to do it. A bunch of us have been wanting to for a long time

I don't understand how I ever slept indoors the quiet I feel like I am gonna drown in it I have to have music on or a window open.

A lot of nights I have been sitting in a chair in the back yard I sleep better out there.

I am grateful for all these things and conveniences of having a home like I have a kitchen and I can shower any time it's great, but my entire routine is gone and now I often don't know what to do with myself.

I miss all my friends more than anything. Even on the days that I make my way over to the park where I would stay almost everyone is gone. People either are getting housing or moving to other areas or going into shelters or just getting arrested.

Before it was like I was always out to play and have fun just all the time entirely weightless with no responsibilities. Now I'm tied to this location and the belongings I have stored at it and the people I live here with.

I'm grateful but it's so different and in a lot of ways I feel like I've sacrificed what became a lifestyle that I really grew to appreciate and am so lucky to have experienced the way that I did.

Can't take anymore I'm leaving and going back to the street only place I belong

I was raised in the 80s and I had never seen this film. Sure, I've seen it referenced a lot and seen clips but never actually sat down and watched it.


I couldn't finish it.

Like you know how Purple Rain is 1.5 hour music video? This is a 1.5 hour jazzercise video.

Like I gave up about half way through on the movie's 50th spandex clad ass shot. Was this a movie about a girl wanting to be a dancer or about her ass? (Probably both).

Music was great. I already knew the iconic songs because I heard them on the radio back in the day (and on the PA system over and over at my local waterpark back in the late 80s).

I get it's a slice of life film but it needed to ratchet up the drama or the comedy or something. And maybe like half the ass shots.

First couple of responses:

My 14 year old niece watched it recently. She's been in dance classes practically her whole life. She loved the movie

My soon-to-be 15 year old daughter has been doing ballet most of her life. She absolutely adores Flashdance, heh

This could very well be true but the thing is, this is just a random sub stack, there is zero evidence or second hand confirmation that anything they're saying is true. It's a big difference if the NYT publishes a story like this where they confirmed the person's identity and just someone's random blog. 
Now the big irony is that no one on RE even questions this, in a thread that's specifically about fake news.

Yeah we all kind of knew it was happening but when you really stop to think about it, it's still terrifying how much control we have given to an algorithm that can easily be manipulated to push a narrative. That they included leftist critiques of democrats for validity is also kinda sobering. No matter what your intentions were or what the original context was, you could have been used to push Trump. Stop using Twitter, people.
