Being thread banned for attacking posters by mocking the posters who attack the posters is the highlight of my week so far.

Another amusing layer here is that if you bothered to appeal and explain it was actually a joke, they would likely not only NOT reverse the ban, but also leave the ban reason the exact same.

There are way, way too many posts to quote across almost every thread on the site these days, but I really get a kick out of the tut-tut posting that a huge amount of posters have committed so much time it. It goes like this.

Trump: Does anything
Poster: Well this power doesn't belong to the executive so it'll likely not happen/get mired down in legal challenges/be functionally ineffectual
Very Smart Poster: How many times do you have to learn this lesson!? Norms and rules mean nothing. Trump now controls the weather!

Just the level of commitment to being knowingly wrong here is really impressive. "Stop considering events within their contextual framework! It's important that you and everyone on this forum believe that The Camps are Imminent and Nothing Can Stop Him!"

I think deep down they want a Leftist Fox News that synergies with them. That’s why they always lament that journalists aren’t doing their job when they don’t insult or editorialize Trump. 

I feel the frustration that the conservative propaganda machine is able to sell yesterday events as a win or backdown even to some of the bore members, but the leftist catastrophizing also did a lot of damage to their causes by virtue of not having the number of people willing to believe the crap. 

I wonder if the U.S. will someday able to deal both Trumptards and Wokies.

The only reason I know was because I saw the drama and the backlash from the first one. I also frequent the Community thread where people have tried floated banning discussion of the game like we did with the Game That Shall Not Be Named.

Censorship of discussion around one of the biggest releases of the year would be disgusting.

You're right. I'm just having a hard time seeing how easy it is for the industry to kind of just shrug at it this time around compared to things like the Cyberpunk issues or Hogwarts Legacy or the Last Night etc of years past. Not -exactly- the same situations in those cases, but it feels like years ago media etc would have made a bigger attempt to push back on platforming nightmare people.

Rowling is actively trying to make the world a worse place for trans people. She is also frequently rejoicing at their pain and suffering. Money for that game was going to Rowling.

There were Trans people across the internet including this forum, asking people not to play it because it was enabling Rowling (and others) to continue causing harm.

There were so many games coming out and yet people could not hold off on giving money to Rowling. People had to play their fucking little RPG. They weren't even being asked to do something active. All they had to to was not play it. It was gross. In mostly left leaning places it was extra gross. Seeing left leaning people and content creators trying to bend over backwards to argue why they needed or had to play it was disgusting. Performative allyship.

I think that was the major aspect of that.

Thankfully, discussion (previews, reviews etc) was not allowed here. I think that was the right choice. Even though some outlets chose to report on that action, whilst also advertising the game in the same article.

(This is the tangent, feel free to skip) And related to that, I really can't stand the "But Progressives are horny too!" defence I've seen used by mostly progressive men people to counter chuds. I brought this up in the Controversial Opinions thread but their was a There was Shaun video, called "Stellar Blade: The Fake Outrage" about two months that early on uses this. What frustrates me about it is that it misses the actual issue many women have which isn't that we don't like sexy, it's that the definition of sexy in our culture is too narrow and the idea that everything has to be "sexy" blocks many women from appearing in games or at least much harder to appear; from fatter women, taller women, muscly women, older women etc. Even in-games that get praised for being progressive, these types of women tend to still be absent or less common then their male counterparts and I feel the justification, of "Progressives are horny too!" gets used to justify that, too justify barring women who are deemed "too ugly" from appearing. It shocks that many ERA users flat out said they didn't want ugly people appearing in games, that we "ruined" their immersion; that people who don't meet society's beauty standards break their immersion etc. It makes it clear women like myself don't have a place in gaming, we're not wanted and I feel people like Shaun and the many men and women use it fall into a trap I see a lot of men fall into when discussing this topic; assuming only chud men and rightwingers have these issues with women which isn't true and I've found a lot of "leftist" men can have these issues as well and are also unwilling to acknowledge this and can be so easily swayed by the right person. It also feels sometimes like it's used like negotiation tactic, "See progressives aren't all bad, we have horny! Join us", like their trying make us more brand friendly to chuds which I don't like and often feels like someone else is talking for me, that their declaring I agree with them and like fuck that, you don't get to fucking speak for me and act like your opinion is mine! (Tangent over)

And the frustrating thing is that deep down I don't think that will ever happen, so many people want RPGs (especially "Western RPGs". Lilith I hate that term) to just be power fantasies, game studios who make RPGs don't seem to be interested in making them in the mainstream space. It's one of the reasons why in recent years I've been getting more into visual novels because they do provide lesbian focused stories, where the idea of a canon lesbian lead isn't laughed off and they actually use the term lesbian.

But those VN are also niche of the niche. Go to the VNDB and type “lesbian protagonist” and compare with everything else there. That is not mainstream at all.

Those games are cheap to make compared to your hypothetical all encompassing RPG where everything affects everything. Why do you think many people stick with making the games in RPGMaker?
