Early in the first act, you come across a Jewish merchant named Mordecai Haim. As well as being a vendor, you can engage him in the same kind of ‘hey, how’s it going? Anything going on in the area?’ small talk as you can with most NPCs. His response to such an inquiry? ‘Pay me’. Jesus Christ.

There’s also a character who is revealed as being gay during the core questline, but adding this element to their characterisation is to fall back on such an agonisingly tired, boring and dated series of tropes that I’d frankly rather they’d just not have even gone there at all.

I love how he doesn’t specify why the characterization is bad and tiring while every other review mentions being a highlight of the game. Also, first time he is playing a game where vendors don’t want small talk?

I usually couldn’t give a shit about individual reviews and don’t think that “reviewer bias” is overstated. But this reviewer clearly went in with the idea that Vavra was a bigot, and therefore must not like Jewish people, and therefore the game is antisemitic. Wonder when he found out that Vavra has Jewish ancestry and has been pretty vocal about his disdain for antisemitism?

Aside from that the review really was shit.

anyone looking at it honestly would classify it as non-political, more interested in showing its world and telling its story than tying in with any hyper modern tut-tut message

I have a feeling people being performatively upset about gayness are in the minority and it's overall a win for minimally-ideological games

Bannable offense to call this out as unprofessional writing on a review btw lol

As a Demi male I would love to see more characters with specific sexualities as it adds alot more agency to them, and makes them more defined people and not something the player simply pursues for the sake of it. I personally don't touch romances that much as I like to see how good these characters are strictly without romancing them.

I have to say I actually don't like how Baldur's Gate 3 handles this as it feels like you have to atleast tread the waters of romance with all of them, just let me be your friend!

The Demi and nonbinary shit is also a reason why developers are not going to do the “specific sexuality and gender” for all characters.

I haven’t seen this GIF in a while, and it makes me think how it was spawned about 15 years ago and it’s like they could see the intervening time, because that’s usually how I’ve felt.

You're telling me this guy is one of the only dissenting voices against the Nazi game?

Edit: Looking at the site's review history, 5/5 review scores are pretty common. Hilariously transparent hit job there Mr Jam.

Hey, I noticed nobody on Ree talked about Bianca Censori at the Grammy's despite the fact they had a whole thread for it, and despite them actually caring about celebrity gossip bullshit.

But absolutely nothing about the hot lady with the big titties showing up completely butt naked? Oh but course. Fucking cowards. 🙄

Outside of news threads, it's basically my default state when browsing ResetEra these days.

I also like in the GIF how Martin Freeman looks less like an actor and more like a forgotten member of Ocean Colour Scene.

Final thought, I always preferred the Mark Lamarr era.
