Yes, they do embed but not from the link YouTube gives you. The plugin is looking for urls that look a certain way and /shorts/blahblah is not that.

BUT YouTube's own systems treat shorts the same on the backend, it's only the user viewing it that gets them served differently. So you can just take the URL and put it in the format every other video gives you and:
