Easter in the US is so different. Last UK easter I was at was something like 15 years ago. Never really enjoyed it much beyond the time off school. There was a certain 'taste' to egg chocolate I didn't like, beyond the Thornton's ones my grandma would get with my name piped on them.

And yeah, when a lot of places stopped putting the sweets inside the egg, it all became a bit what's the point.

Here in the US... it's shit candy like peeps and Robin's eggs and bad jelly beans instead of shit chocolate. Add in the horrifying Easter bunny (my wife has serious masclophobia about them) , no time off work at least here in Mass, and Easter is one giant meh.

No hot crossed buns either, but I was never a big fan.

I guess the last week has me feeling more distant from the UK than ever, without exactly feeling welcomed here in the US (though Massachusetts is still good for now and hopefully stays that way). At least I have a new episode of Who to watch today. That's become a semi regular Easter weekend highlight.

I go there to workout and then leave. I get basic crap that's high quality. Many times I wear ratty tshirts, conference T-shirt lol.

I'm not even going into details, and if I got a bunch of "what are you even talking about" replies I know what's up, but.. I mean, do they only feel weird to me? Kinda like someone designed Sesame Street characters, but with sexy legs and hot pants/skintight suits, bikinis, and spent ours working on getting those right? I can't really put my finger on it, since on paper, they aren't even aggressively sexualized, but the choice of you-know-which-one promotional image as the one for Peach, for example, is so weird to me. Right? Am I going nuts? Is it just because I haven't played MK in ages and it's normal these days?

I see where you are coming from. The art style is weird. So the sexualization is kinda benign but also kinda not. In a Totally Spies kinda way, when the show isn't being barely disguised fetish/kink fuel. Peach having an ass is a deliberate choice that feels at odds with the general Mario aesthetic ethos.
