Quote:From the reactions it seems that The Marvels is a fun, light hearted popcorn film with some great action scenes and performances from the leads, but in the other thread folks are comparing it to Rise of Skywalker SMH.
Quote:This was SO FUN, it was a movie, projected a screen, wow, when you think about...it's amazing that humans produced this technology!! It's in the bottom 10% of everything that this franchise has produced and I often wondered why the film was making some of its seemingly pointless choices, but you know what, there were multiple - more than one! - moments where I said "Wait, this is pretty decent!"
So hey, it's a win, because I recognize the miraculous power of human ingenuity when it comes to making movies in the first place. Step off, haters.
Oh poor Zeo. He can only sit and watch the flames grow higher.

They cannot handle the chuds being right twice in a row with these terrible captain marvel movies 😂

It's really funny to see them trying to prop up The Marvels as this unashamedly female movie when it's really not. It's just a superhero movie starring women, that's neither here nor there.
You know what was unashamedly female? Barbie, and the girls fucking ate it up

Armond White may be full of shit, but he's right about Roger Ebert screwing up the line between criticism and reviews.

I'm quite happy about it.

In Ancient Greece (which they often purport to love) women had the hardest time of basically anywhere in the ancient world. The men took men (and little boys) as lovers, so the women were pure and simple baby factories or generational conflict leverage who had to be locked in the house and had zero civil or property rights. Their modesty was policed by force of death, and masculine and feminine was simply a matter of tops and bottoms. Sounds familiar tbf. The exception to the rule was Sparta, and elsewhere hellenistic society portrayed the Spartan women as base, masculine and degenerate.
Their 'progressive', 'left wing' crusade against reality has basically reverted to the mean of patriarchal misogyny, because they are wrangled by fuckwitted Americans with no actual understanding of basic left wing ideas like secularism and the fucking scientific method. Instead, like barbarians, it's all about saving face.
FjMarvel is doing some backseat modding on "their" OT.

Gotta say, as somebody outside the trenches, these Marvel fanboys are somehow more fragile and humorless than the gaming ones. The PS3 fanboys of their day were funny in their delusions. Talking about how Lair is secretly good and you can overlook it running at 10 FPS if you plug in a generic USB controller. These marvel guys are a black hole of self pity and victimization.

Women led movies are going to be fine. Wanna help, watch good women led movies. There's plenty of them.

It’s been a month now and still no word from Mel Gibson. Something is going on.

Without zeo hyping it up, it really feels like resetera is resigned to the fact that it's mediocre but with good performances and its fun. That's about as much give as the hardcore zealots will admit.
Wait a minute, Fj007 hasn't even seen the movie?!

It's amazing no one realized yet that someone at the MCU hates Brie Larson more than the chuds do. They just can't use her right, it's got to be on purpose, she's a good actress.
They spent more time worrying about the chuds, that they didnt spend any time worrying about the director who was inspired by Advent Children 😂

To be fair, the Telegraph basically is everything they accuse the British media of being – it's nicknamed the Torygraph for a reason. Although their film critic, Robbie Collin, is cool from what podcast appearances I've heard.

That making movies based on identity first instead of making good movies from good scripts is a bad idea?
take it back a step further, and stop making films about shit nobody comic book people

Diverse movie is successful:
Re: See? We told you so. Now make more diverse movies
Diverse movie is unsuccessful
Re: Don't learn the wrong lessons from this. This had nothing to do with the movie being diverse

A Zeo replacement approaches???
Quote:Quote:First Captain America film and quantamania are genuinely Bad.
First Cao film is amazing, so no idea what you're talking about there. Quantum is fine. If that's a bad film then I want to know what films y'all are watching.
Quote:Iron Man 3 and Love & Thunder are two movies I'd nominate as "truly bad". Haven't seen The Eternals and I don't remember Thor 2 well enough. I bailed on Ant-Man 3, couldn't make it past halfway.
Quote:Iron Man 2 is a trainwreck from the Party Scene onward
These are all fine films, I think maybe Iron-Man 2 approaches bad levels. And the fact that you would even list Iron-Man 3, the best IM film and arguably one of the best MCU films, tells me you're out of your mind.
The Marvel formula doesn't lend itself to producing bad films. They pump out perfectly safe and predictable films. I personally find more enjoyment out of watching BvS: Ultimate Cut than Quantumania. But, I'm not going to sit here and argue BvS is a better film or even a good film. It's absolutely shit. But it at least was trying something, and that appeals to me. Quantumania is undoubtedly a decent film. I have no desire to ever see it again, but it was completely fine. Inoffensive. Safe.
