Well, nobody else is retarded enough to write that much about an MCU movie, so I guess you're right.

Not appreciating the ZattMurdock erasure. :-/
Quote:I haven't been able to get any female interested in superheroes since 2019 really.

Yikes, found the chud.
Quote:I wish I could ask my gf what she thinks but she is excited more for Terrifier 3 rather than anything MCU. She only commented that "these chicks are dressed like racing drivers" from the poster.
My sister used to be pretty big on MCU but she literally only watched Loki post Endgame lol.

Look, they're not very smart. They think there's a "true" way to be male and since they're not that they must not be male. And then they listen to a bunch of other idiots with equally stupid ideas. All of them confirming their belief that simply changing gender is somehow an one-size-fits-all solution to their insecurities. As if "feeling in tune" with your gender is something someone can feel or not rather than a nonsensical idea if thought about in more than a two second superficial manner.

Is Tom Hiddleston reduced to doing superhero movies now? Jesus. Remember when he was making films with the likes of Jim Jarmusch and Tilda Swinton

They’ll just blame the patriarchy for this.

What's also fascinating is women did not show up for this film compared to men, with a spilt 63% men vs. 45% women.
What

Comeon
Are the trans folx being counted as men or women in this?  ???

Kind of funny that people are admitting that women can be thirsty and objectivate men.

Quote:That you don't need to have seen any prior films to understand 98%+ of the latest MCU film is pretty close to being a straight up inarguable fact. These are ultra mainstream films intended to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. If there's anything you need to know, the film is going to have explicit coverage of that thing prior to the point where that knowledge becomes relevant. The problem is that the MCU managed to successfully convince mainstream audiences that wouldn't otherwise do so to approach the films as a film enthusiast would approach any film they watch. Any artform is always constantly building on prior works. You get more out of any art as you become more familiar with the broader context it belongs in. The MCU isn't any different aside from being more overt.

And that's why all the 'fatigue' discourse matters. It's the social side of the filmgoing experience that people are generally thinking of when they feel like they can't watch the new film without having seen prior entries. While they may not need to have watched any prior content to understand the new film, they do need to have watched all that prior content to have a conversation about the new film because everyone is constantly also talking about how the new thing interacts with the old thing. Again, this is totally normal for an enthusiast conversation, but it's something that is largely absent in mainstream discussion. The MCU made that kind of conversation cool to the point where it became FOMO. That's a big fucking deal.

One of the main reasons not doing a big Avengers movie every few years was a mistake is because that sort of film gives audiences who haven't seen everything room to join conversations. If the first Iron Man is the only phase 1 film you had seen, you could have a meaningful conversation with someone who had only seen the first Captain America after watching the first Avengers together. Most of the people who watched Infinity War and Endgame hadn't seen most of the MCU and it didn't matter because the film did all the bringing together of various prior content for them.

A lot of people now feel like they can't watch the new film without seeing past films and shows because the structure of the MCU now makes it more difficult to engage in the social side of the films due to the lack of any particular film doing that work for you. In the past, I would know who Ms. Marvel is because there'd be some big film introducing her specifically to people who hadn't seen her solo show. As many people point out, Captain Marvel hasn't been seen in years. The Marvels may technically be a teamup film but a 90 minute film with only three major characters isn't going to be doing the work of the big Avengers film. Rather than being a major clarifying event, it's going to feel more like minor confusion.

The fun’s just starting when after Deadpool 3 (which could be good, to be fair), the next two MCU movies are Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts. The peak-MCU B-team and a team-up of the Disney+ Z-listers nobody cares about. Both have colossal bomb written all over them.

Sickos

I imagine that helped a lot, specially since he is the funniest character of that film and his whole arc was campy as hell.
I would think marvel nerds would understand the power fantasy of wanting to see some muscular jacked up guy on the big screen since that's all you get in your homoerotic spandex and cape books.

I guess Ree are too busy being wolves in sheep's clothing when it comes to how they interact with real women.

The horrific implication that Ryan Gosling having his six pack out in every marketing shot helped the movies success.

What's next, Megan Fox being all greased up actually helped sell Transformers tickets???

I will also say that female weirdos that hate anything remotely sexy like Morrigan are also pretty few.

No Hamas allowed
Getting banned for that? And the responses too. L O fucking L.
It's the same dude logic that if they just inserted more female characters into genres overwhelmingly male-skewed that you'd suddenly get an even gender split for shit like milsim or grand strategy games. They're still convinced everyone has been insidiously socially engineered to not all have the same hobbies and interests as turbo nerd dudes.

Factually incorrect.  Actually, sex does not sell at all unless you are some sort of chud.
