The Israel-Hamas situation seems tailor made to fry the brains of, in particular, very online leftists.

It's like a perfect storm of exploiting their positions on support for Palestine and ambivalence towards Israel, anticolonialism, US militarism, race relations, Islam, etc, antagonism towards groups who traditionally support Israel, and undercurrents of antisemitism that have never gone away.

And it's a genuinely awful situation where both sides are shits and so can't fit into the black-and-white good vs evil narratives that they prefer.

You couldn't design a better situation to create divisions on the left between the reasonable adults and the nutters.
