I'm not even remotely surprised. Disney is an absolute masterclass in trying as loudly as possible to look progressive without actually doing the hard work, and it seems like most of the other production houses are no better.

This is really a shame. Hollywood loves to talk the talk when they get a pat on the head for doing so, but they always fall back into the same old habits when it comes time to actually walk the walk.

I tried Googling "Colin Moriarty transphobic", but all I found was a bunch of useless results and a few results with people saying other people call him transphobic, but not actually pointing to specific statements.

Rowling is magnitudes more popular, and has much, much more influence than chappelle. She's also causing direct harm through her funding, and has been the spearhead of anti-trans movements and even influences anti-trans laws. While chappelle is fucking awful, there really isn't a need to lock shit down here in the same way it was needed for rowling. Somehow he maintains a lot of respect from powerful voices who could easily get him cancelled but instead keep him bulletproof. Its insane to me that the "backlash" from his specials have zero consequences each time and the "controversy articles" feel more like marketing fluff just to promote him.

So its like a child who goes unpunished, they start to believe "Hmm I can say and do whatever I want" with the behavior only getting worse and seeing just how far they can get before a slap on the wrist at worst. As Dave Chappelle has never struck me as an intelligent or mature person, I believe that is the level he operates on and gets the same amusement and fulfillment an early teen does from acting this way.
