While I generally agree, I also have to argue that the way someone looks is an extension of their personality and how they think about themselves.

Personally from my experinced in 2019 and 2024 (i volunteered in South Africa and Sri Lanka using Projects Abroad), i think voltuneering abroad at least one time in your live is a great experince. As someone who has mostly spent their entire life in the United Kingdom, i haven't had the chances to really experince a ton of different cultures which going abroad have not.Plus for some reason, i felt a lot more comfortable talking to volunteers then to talking to other pepole. It gave me the work experince that i needed for my chosen field of Hospitality i had some strange, odd but great experinces whilst volunteering.Personally i feel like pepole should volunteer abroad at least at one point in their lives if they are able to/Here are just some of the few photos:

Volunteer if you're genuinely looking to help. Don't try to find self-fulfilment/yourself doing things you're unequipped and unskilled for. You're causing more harm than good.

This is a multi-billion dollar industry where the money doesn't go to local communities. This just furthers the harmful saviour complex. Support local tourism and businesses. Not these culture vulture companies. Humanitarians themselves have criticised this industry.

No bro, you have to set the Z-buffer slider to 3 and use the WaifuGlide64 render instead of DirectSoftX. Also put it in admin mode and disable your Windows firewall and enable Application Scaling in the Nvidia control panel.

Oh, you downloaded the 0.6 beta? You should roll back to the 0.4 Alpha if you want to play Super Mario Wonder, they're working on fix, You can fork it from CuckBlasterCubes repository on GitHub. Oh his account got banned, well this MegaUpload link has a copy of the file the password is: 398408u4dickwad934.

The old emulators were golden though, you had something called NESticle, which literally had a testicle as a cursor and you could throw any crazy ass hacked translated Dragonball Z rom in it and it would run like a charm. Same for GBA and SNES. All the 3D stuff though, fucking horrible.

you joke somewhat, but literally just discovered this is the case for PSP peace walker

if you run it in the most common latest emulator, for years now, you can't start most missions because the game thinks you haven't brought along gear you need for the mission

you have to roll back to some ancient outdated version of the emulator, or else make a bunch of nonsensical changes about connecting to a fake virtual sony online service or some shit

Not only that, but some of us are so introverted that we don't go outside for months because we get our enjoy from our experiences inside... I travelled a bit when I was in my late teens and early twenties... I honestly never want to travel again. It's a draining process. The destinations are always fantastic but my life wouldn't be any different now if I never travelled.

Ehhh yeah possibly, but if you don't have a need for anything that's outside, then why go outside? I have no need for anything outside at all, everything I want can come to me and all my enjoyment is inside too. The only time I venture out is to go to the cinema.

Back on the topic of volunettering and helping others and such, I was involved in a large multi-contident United Nations HABITAT project for developing public spaces in developing countries from the age of 19-24 and I did that from the comfort of my own room entirely too. So people can still impact the outside world and do good while not going out into the world.
