A friend of mine has been stalked by the same delusional individual for at least a decade. The stories she shares are horrifying and I imagine the ones she doesn't are worse. She's also legitimately the only person I know who benefitted from Trump winning in 2016 in a major way, because her stalker *also* was stalking one of the Trumps. With the Box Office performance of "The Flash" in theaters I guess we should probably have this conversation.

Many seem to claim that "DC" as a brand is damaged and needs to take a break.

However, non "DCEU" films such as The Batman or Joker have done fine, and shows divorced from the "Snyderverse" aesthetic like CW's Arrowverse and arguably Peacemaker have all done well. Which to me shows that the DC brand still has strength.

Do you think the failures of the "DCEU" have poisoned the well for all things DC?

Right, it's completely fine to critique these movies because only one of them was perfect and it didn't even come out in theaters, but all the projection about how audiences didn't like the bleakness, the violence, the lack of "understanding the characters" and so on just isn't reflected in the box office figures. Especially if, like the poster did, you rope in Joker and The Batman which are even bleaker and more violent than the Snyderverse.

This shouldn't be surprising if you remember that the two most popular DC movies of all time (before Aquaman) were The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises but forget that we have a stupid extreme fanboy war based on ad hoc explanations to win here! (I'd also note that the two most popular Marvel movies involve The Avengers broken up and half the universe being thought dead for five years.)

For a people who claim to be immune to corporate spin, they completely bought the corporate spin of the executives who were justifying what they were doing and pointing to expectations of billion dollar box offices as far as the eye could see.

Surprised to see Hogwarts Legacy continuing to do so well. It was over 10million units in its first few weeks, wonder what it’s at now?

Glad to see Zelda top the charts. Much, much deserved.

A lot of people don’t like JK these days, but Harry Potter is almost certainly still in the top 5 (at most) media properties in the US I’d imagine. Just imagine when the Switch version is available.

This mess has easily already knocked 25 - 50% off the value of any potential IPO.

For sure, only suprise news you want before a IPO is you cured cancer or something. Anything less than that is fucking with the money

 at them thinking this somehow took a quarter to half of reddit's value, it probably raised the value of the company among investors. Reddit's been "before IPO" for eighteen months at this point.

Edit: Also thinking this is "suprise news" not something they ran past large IPO advisors who told them to do it.
