Damn, I made a huge mistake reading our arrest story on my college town's subreddit. There's someone really funny about Redditors who think they are smart and believe in the words of an administration that's tied to the systemic pursuit of profit. They're saying that our protest is all for naught "because the university has no direct investments in Israel" when the entire point of our protest is highlighting how the university's very own off-shoot (Foundation) has not disclosed any of its investments nor have the intentions to divest whatsoever.

It's whatever, though. We have way more supporters now than ever. I'll be posting everything about our arrests + jail as well as the group's future plans tomorrow. I'm pretty tired and jail has hardened me. Lmao.

It is a corporation issue. But the loudest voices complaining about it aren't the ones being directly affected by this. And it ends up screwing over the people who would be, but have managed to get by just fine. Do you really think people from countries like mine are so helpless that we couldn't figure out how to make accounts based in other countries so we can access games? The problem is the people propping that "no PSN in these countries" as an excuse weren't the ones from said countries, they were just co-opting that reasoning. And now screwed over the people from said countries, who weren't even complaining in the first place.

PSN is a mess and should have been redesigned back when they launched the PS4.

My opinions:

1) They should not have removed the PSN requirement during launch period.
2) They should have made it non mandatory (maybe disallow cross-play if no account is linked) and provide rewards (additional medals etc) if you link an account.
3) Bloody gamers whining, making a small thing bigger than it actually is.
4) Sony/Arrowhead shouldn't have overreacted and did this.
5) Sony desperately need a region less solution if they want to continue to sell their GaSS on PC. Maybe a new account format that allows you to link your Steam/PSN/Epic Games/whatever accounts to a new service instead.

The Fuck? Having a successful game that comes from nowhere is usually a good thing, specially since they avoid the marketing costs to promote it. Not mention that this has been their first successful modern GAAS, outside of buying Destiny, so whenever thinks this is worth destroying the goodwill of people is totally a moron. While I don’t think numbers are going to drop that drastically, they burned the hype the game had until the new faction comes out.

I dunno why corporate video game companies fail so much in PR and repeat the cycle of “Cool Company to Arrogant Company to Humbled Company”, is fucking embarrassing and the big three keep doing it.

I think it boils to platform holders upholding strict rules and policies (especially after the Cyberpunk 2077 mess). 
So if Sony doesn't meet the 'demands' they set for third party games they can't enforce them on others. 

And those policies are usually related to comply with government regulations. If I had to guess, developer fucked around and legal found out using 'only' Steam accounts breaches the EU/GDPR privacy regulations. After all, only the company that you interact with may process necessary personal data unless the parties involved have a data processing agreement in place for the particular service or product which they have arranged through the Steam/PSN account linking. 

So if you use a Steam account, Sony isn't legally able to access your user data (in Germany they have even ruled your IP address is 'personal data') and you are playing on Sony servers (for which they probably have a 'general' privacy policy based on PSN accounts that you 'agree' to when you sign up). When you link your PSN account to your Steam account the additional DPA between Valve/Sony covers the data processing between the accounts. Sony also has quite a few EU funded projects so breaching EU laws would put those at risk.

Companies have to decide to create one version of the game (according to the most 'strict' regulations) or seperate versions for every region and in nearly all cases they stick with a single 'global' version of the game, don't collect any data or don't release it overseas.

And the risk is real, I just signed up for a class-action lawsuit against Google because Android runs Google Services in the background that share your data with Google without consent.

so first things first, i don't blame the workers, generally speaking they were helpful and worked with me to try and fix my issues, and these ppl are overworked, underpaid, and statistically just graduated from middle school

Wednesday - i was accidentally given a pot pie from KFC still frozen

this one was funny cuz i didn't notice until I was driving away and moved the bag and was like "why the fuck is this cold?" I turned around and apparently the person who prepared the pot pie was finishing mine and about to do a new one and brain-farted at put the frozen one in the box

Thursday - bad sauce at Pizza Hut

this one was weird, and i wasn't given a proper explanation as to what happened, but not only did my pizza seem to have extra sauce, but it also smelled and tasted like a battery, it's hard to describe. Like the sauce wasn't rotten, it was fucked up in some other way, couldn't even a slice, got a refund no trouble

Friday - raw chicken at the Popeyes :/

this one sucked cuz i found out only after taking a bite. I used a deal on the app to get a 5 piece with two sides cuz i was like "it's Friday I want some fucking chicken", and the only piece that wasn't rare was the wing. Had to leave work and get it fixed, they cooked me up a fresh batch and threw in some extras (I didn't ask for a refund I just wanted chicken).

Saturday - large cup of caramel milk at McDonald's

so i was draggin ass today when I woke up, and I looked at the McDonald's app and got the "any beverage for $1" deal to order a large camel-mocha iced latte. While waiting at the window I hear the kid inside say "I should really learn how to use this coffee machine someday" before handing me a large cup of milk with whipped cream on top. I took a sip to be sure, this fucker didn't have espresso, mocha OR ice in it, it was just caramel milk. Went inside and the person at the counter laughed and said "yeah that fucked up".

I recently went to Vietnam and was quite shocked to find many people had no understanding or care for Socialism. People didn't care for Karl Marx or theory. Many people love America and dislike China. Despite fighting a superpower for their independence they somehow support Israel. People like Donald Trump and were very materialistic. In the north people were more political but they weren't communists they were just nationalist and kind of intolerant. Workers rights there are poor too, they dont own the means of production and have low wages and I was told by people that protests or strikes are forbidden and are broken up by police.

A co-worker of mine visited Vietnam recently and he asked them why they liked the US more and why they wanted their kids to learn English (they basically tell their kids to start conversations with foreigners to learn better English). 

They told him that while Vietnam 'briefly' fought a war with the US and French for independence, overall they had been trying to keep China out for centuries and lived under their thumb far longer. Ironically most of them believe in the 'Domino theory' that if China takes Taiwan, Vietnam and other parts of Asia are next and some even fear they will be first if Taiwan is too heavily defended. China is a far more immediate threat and there is a heavy anti-Chinese sentiment.
