I feel I should talk about this because it's the wording I used.

We don't have to condemn Hamas to start a conversation in this thread (anymore), but this was extremely and ostensibly the case for the better part of the ongoing genocide operations since Oct 7 in mainstream media (remember that video from I think a UK broadcast?) and even official speech (remember Israel and the US decrying South Africa's appeal do ICJ because it "didn't condemn Hamas", although it did?). It's treated as a civilizational baseline for discussion, whereas condemnation of the occupation is not. In that vein, it's very important to note we should be able to contextualize Hamas' actions in the face of that occupation without that being understood as whitewashing it.

Yasuke doesn't make sense for the protagonist for two reasons:

1) The main character has traditionally been a fictional invention to act as cultural foil when talking to various historical figures and partaking in historical events. Assassin's Creed has never been alt-history as much as it's been "parallel-history". Their work is supposed to be happening in the shadows, but still in the generally accepted timeline of history. These games aren't Man in the High Castle. Yasuke, as far as we know, was a real person, despite there being very little attribution to his existence, and zero proof of him ever being a Samurai. He was most likely a servant or slave to the Jesuit missionaries that brought him along and served briefly in some sort of mercenary capacity. It would make far more sense for your random Japanese character to meet Yasuke towards the end of Nobunaga's reign and do a mission with him, but we all know they picked him for DEI reasons.

My guess is that they wanted a "fish out of water story" to make it easier for anyone unfamiliar with Japanese tradition (I think they even almost say as much in the dev diary) but didn't pick a white guy because then all the journalists etc. would explode about whitewashing. So instead they picked a black character because now it's the same story but actually super diverse and how dare you complain. Black washing? Black savior? Blacky mighty? That's not a thing!

Like honestly I'm less bothered by Yasuke starring (though he looks to be almost over presented in pop culture in the future if those multiple movies happen) and more so annoyed with the hypocrisy. 
When Matt Damon starred in the Great Wall, (a Chinese produced movie mind you), people lost their shit about white washing, white savior etc. despite having a similar flimsy historical base for the character. All those arguments they made back then still apply if the character is black (foreigner better at tradition than natives, an asian person lost a job opportunity etc.) but you don't hear a peep from those folks. Fuck, people were even mad when a white guy played the a flute in traditional Japanese garb for Sony(a Japanese company)at e3. Like how do they have energy to call out asian companies for whitewashing of their own products and absolutely none of that for an entirely western company?

Being a small affiliated LGBTQ+ streamer is definitely rough especially when I'm too honest to use any of those manipulative tactics to grow my stream. I get what you mean, winning the game usually takes a piece of shit much like many other industries.
There are some bigger streamers I respect who are trans like me but they are few and far between.

Ubisoft is kind of a big deal for the non-existent French/Canadian tech sector and ear marked as one of the few competitive EU companies and they actually made a $400 million profit over the last 12 months.

A lot of their projects are backed by various forms of government funding and subsidies (direct or indirect) however that also gives them the obligation to keep a lot of staff on the payroll and release the games or risk losing the subsidies (see Skull & Bones). They also have a lot of licensing deals for their games, streaming services, IP that they own for various other forms of entertainment (comics/movies etc.) and publishing deals with publishers outside of Europe (For example, Ubisoft handles publishing of Square Enix games in certain European markets).

The cost reduction plans are still in motion but overall the company is profitable and there are plenty of countries that want high paying tech jobs so they invest in Ubisoft studios hoping to attract that kind of talent.

Today is my 5 year anniversary of when I came out to the world and publicly transitioned. It's been an amazing thing! I am very proud to have made this milestone. My university is calling for divestment from Caterpillar, who has recently granted the school $1.2 million. Everything's going splendidly but we are anticipating agitators of some sort; there has been some push back from centrists/conservatives over social media. On the other hand, university policy is constructed in a way where the administration really can't do anything about us (considering that a spokesperson said that they cannot violate our first amendment rights, it'd be pretty damning if they sic the police on us).
