I’m out of touch. Any rumors?

I’ve had Metroid Prime 4 preordered since 2018. Hoping for yet another announcement of cancellation and handing to another developer.

Bring it on boys. Give me that Metroid Prime 4 reveal Pikmin 4 DLC 10 minute deep dive!!!

Why does it feel like 97% of this is remakes and ports. Why do I keep watching this shit.

Surfaced along with Metroid Dread, Wario and Links Awakening for 3DS. Wario got cancelled, Metroid and LA eventually released.
Thumbsdown

New Zelda game
Some kind of 2D Zelda project is in development, unsure if it shows up at this Direct but would make sense as a holiday title (like 2D Mario last year)
Thumbsup

F-Zero GX - Remaster
Rumored to be in development at Next-Level Games, could also be for Switch 2
Thumbsdown

Donkey Kong
Started development as Donkey Kong Freedom at Vicarous Visions, Activision dropped it but rumor has it Nintendo has either continued the project or rebooted it.
In any case, they've put quite some effort into Donkey Kong for the theme park rides, Mario Movie and LEGO sets so a new DK game would make sense.
Thinking

Metroid
Possible shadow drop of MP2/MP3 remasters, along with a reveal of the Switch version of Metroid Prime 4 but if one game is a prime candidate as Switch 2 launch title its this one
Thumbsup

Xenosaga
The copyright and references showed up in Xenoblade Future Redeemed, would make sense considering the close ties Nintendo has with Bandai/Namco
Thumbsdown

Square Enix
They didn't have a big presence at Sony or Microsoft but they teased Dragon Quest 3-HD prior to Geoff Fest, plus there is the rumored FF9 remake.
Thumbsup

Apart from this Nintendo will probably do whatever they have to do to pad out the line-up with a Mario & Sonic Olympics game, maybe a new Mario Party or Kirby or whatever.

Ace Attorney: Investigations Collection (visual overhaul, JPN only content added)
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven (full Remake)
METROID PRIME 4: Beyond :D

What they showed all looked pretty damn good, including a lot of the remakes. It's clear that they needed to pad things out until the next console.
This used to be the part in the Nintendo console cycle when the only release was Mario Party and a carrot on a stick.

The Zelda game looks good as do lots of the remakes and remasters, especially Dragon Quest III.
Surprised to see Metroid Prime 4 playable on Switch, I thought that maybe they would keep that under wraps until Switch 2.
The fact that Nintendo is still releasing Switch games bodes well for the Switch 2. They seem confident they have enough games that they don't have to delay 2024 games into 2025 to bolster the line-up.

Guess this really did flop hard.

Similarly I saw Suicide Squad is already on sale for $25 at one site, wouldn't be surprised if that's the price next time around everywhere. Also Saints Row Gold keys for Steam are like $8 already, that being EGS exclusive hid the flop from everyone probably.

Interesting video. I was really into Overwatch in those first couple years. Really, the last multiplayer shooter for me. Lost interest, I’d say earlier than 2020 because I briefly jumped back in during the pandemic times. Maybe read a little about Overwatch 2 and promptly forgot.

tl;dr every aspect of Overwatch 2 was fucked up? In the end it was basically a patch for Overwatch 1, and aspects of Overwatch 1 were ruined in the transition.

To touch on culture war shit as diversity as a goal is mentioned. imo the original Overwatch cast is a good example. I don’t know if people whined about it. But in terms of identity, designs, silhouettes, play styles and abilities. All well done. Lots of fun times playing it.

Course he did, he knows Microsoft and Sony dropped the ball so hard they don't have Killzones or HALOs anymore.

Metroid Prime 2 went up against:
- Doom 3
- HALO 2
- Half Life 2
- Killzone
- Unreal Tournament 2004
- Star Wars: Battlefront
- The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
+ two dozen more

Metroid Prime 3 went up against:
- Half Life 2: Episode 2
- Bioshock
- HALO 3
- Crysis
- COD4
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
+ a dozen more

Metroid Prime 4 will go up against:
- Judas
- Doom: The Dark Ages

I think to your average consumer, it is a shooter- I also wouldn't be putting Metroid Prime up directly against something like Doom since both are going to be on different platforms and aren't in direct competition with each other.

There is a lot of overlap between the audience for Metroid Prime and the audience for boomer shooters/DOOM/Half-Life etc. and the game is certainly on the radar with that community.
Mostly because everything else is live service loot shooters.

Slumber for now, altered beast. We will tell you when you can next RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

In all seriousness, probably a really long time from now. how many developers are this on-point, this consistent, and have no-one telling them when to ship?

Blizzard used to be the epitome of this, with a "when it's ready" mantra, and never a miss until their merger with Kotick's fucking Death Star.

Quote:Nintendo has responded to concern over the inappropriate use of its characters online and said it would take "appropriate action" against anything that would make some players "feel uncomfortable".

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa was recently questioned by a shareholder who said they had "come across cases on social media where Nintendo IP and games are used inappropriately". This "inappropriate" use of Nintendo's characters "poses the risk of damaging" the company's brand, the question continued - so what was Nintendo planning to do about it?

In response, Furukawa said Nintendo's management policy was to "bring smiles through entertainment" (but presumably not the kind of smiles generated by "inappropriate" use).
