I can't agree with the Lincoln thing at all, the Revolutionary period was a major obsession with republicanism. Arguably Lincoln's mythological recasting was towards the Presidency and against republican values, the Whigs had a history of disdaining anything resembling a republican democracy and Lincoln had little interest in constitutional safeguards restricting his personal power.

The interesting thing about the parliament side of it is that the one thing parliament did actually have control of was tax, and a lot of George's stranger policy decisions were driven by how parliament chose to raise revenue and what they would do and what they wouldn't for various ideological weirdnesses of the time. No taxation without representation meant a seat in westminster.

Tbf it's a 'to some extent' question because in a revolution things change fast. But I think there's a fairly good case for the american structure of government imitating what would have been an idealist constitutional monarchy if the revolution happened somewhere else.

What is indisputable is that the personal power and authority of the American president has increased inverse to the power of the king of Britain and the only thing keeping it together is the two term limit and regular elections per the constitution.
