Am I the only one who felt that Zelda Switch was nothing but grade A Nintendo slop that fanboys ate up happily? Horizon to me was how you mix combat, with traversal without dumb meters, and let’s face probably the dumbest way you implement physics. Garbage game, with a garbage cartoon world, and 100% garbage fans. Nintendo rewarded once again by unnecessary childhood memories.

It's funny to see this conversation happening right alongside the launch of Astro Bot. 

That's a game that introduces new mechanics almost every level and has almost 0 text of any kind. This is a solved problem. 

I've got a kid, and it frustrates me when so many cutesy "kid-oriented" games completely miss such an obvious mark: they're clearly made by people who don't have kids and don't interact with kids. Just get to the fucking point: some of your audience can't even read, and those that can read don't care how clever a wordsmith you wasted money on.

Can anyone with a PS5 genuinely say they are happy with their purchase? How many would be just as, if not more, satisfied if they stuck with their PS4?

This whole generation is just a steaming pile of shit with no purpose or actual compelling reason to buy into it.

I own one and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Some games I own and really like are: Demon's Souls, Sackboy, Returnal, Ratchet & Clank, God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, FF16 and FF7 Rebirth and Astro Bot on it.

The controller as well I think is a nice edition if developers take advantage of it. Which lets be honest is mostly 1st party or like exclusive games like the Final Fantasy games. I will say though because I bought the version before they made it smaller, thing is massive and quite the pain in the ass to make it look presentable in your entertainment setup.

The 30th anniversary bundle is cool and all, but making it limited and in such low numbers won't really move the needle in terms of trying to push units. Response so far for the PS5 Pro has been pretty universally negative amongst influential Youtubers and gaming outlets, so its pretty safe to say the only consumer that will go for this thing will be the hardcore of the hardcore, scalpers, or folks with money to burn.

It doesn't help that the games they showcases are games that A.) already look good on current platforms and B.) are on PC (or coming to PC eventually), which the Pro can't even compete with in terms of specs. The graphics and performance bump is seen by most as not justifiable given the price of the console.

Perhaps closer to launch we may see some trade-up deals?

personally think worst thing on forum of the years is the ban begging, and i think it should be actioned more when it appears in many threads - because now it appears frequently on a weekly basis across the forum. my personal opinion within reason, makes no sense to ban most things. it achieves nothing other than cliques seeking to scoring points against each other. and banning only rewards that

We've been trying to ban people who do that, we've literally told people we'd be tossing them for it a year or so ago, but it's hardly reported because a lot of people don't see an issue or agree with it. A lot of it is just new ways of doing the console warz, ways that aren't as obvious to anyone who hasn't been paying attention or can't see people's post/ban history. Another part of it is people not wanting to be challenged in any way and others because they want the forum to more closely match up with their own personal beliefs.

When we ban news sources it's because the people at the site/organization are either nazis, conspiracy nuts, or it's just plain fake news. When we ban media it's because that media is inherently bigoted in such a way that there is no redeeming value (or it's just porn). When we disallow certain kinds of threads, or force them into a containment OT, it's because they either lead to constant dumpsterfires that take up literally all of our time (like the AI threads initially did) or because the thread topic in general isn't going to lead anywhere good and will 100% be a gigantic problem at some point down the line.

Straight up, regardless of what people think, we don't like or want to go around banning stuff. It's not fun for you guys and it's even less fun for us. The whole "ban topics" stuff takes up huge amounts of our time that we could be spending dealing with other issues and instead of keeping threads focused on the actual topic at hand it just turns them into metacommentary and navel gazing.

People need to stop asking us to ban stuff just because they don't like it. If there's an actual problem then we will take action, otherwise just have the discussion or if you don't want to talk about it just don't go into the thread or put it on ignore. We give you guys so many tools you can use to customize the way the forum looks and feels, hell we're in the middle of developing even more as we speak.

Never should have capitulated to TransERA all those times, then, if calls for bans annoy you so much, B-Dumbs. The calls to ban stuff really kicked off after you listened to people like Kyuuji and silo'd CyberPunk 2077 and later outright banned Hogwarts Legacy.

PS5 is peak arrogant Sony. I won't buy a PS6 at launch because of it. Playstation has basically been my main since inception aside from switching teams during the 360 era (and yeah, even then I spent 599$ US DOLLARS on a PS3) but fuck them and the PS5.
