Strange absence from all the people who were so obsessed with Ezra's They/Them crimes and who kept demanding that movie that had already finished filming should either be canceled or reshot entirely

One of the major complaints is that Batman (2022) is an idiot that misses obvious clues. I always thought that it was part of the theme of the whole movie that he was reactionary and favoured plans where he could punch people over thoughtful investigation, and that it was part of his arc about learning how to become a hero and realizing not every problem can be solved with his fists.

Bale's Batman does basically zero detective work in any of the movies, Alfred and Fox basically have to do his thinking for him multiple times, but it's not entirely his fault because The Joker literally operates outside of linear time and with omniscience about probabilities like most villains in the Nolanverse.

I do not fault people for liking TDK more; it is probably the better paced movie and objectively has the best acting performance in the entire genre. Personally liked The Batman more though.

Anyway, I'm fine. Life is great. He deserves all of that. I'm not one to downplay grief.
However I'm done with the self-diagnosed pity. I'm legit going through a difficult time right now because my uncle died in May, my father was treated for pancreatic cancer in June and suffered an internal bleeding 2 weeks later. A very close call, a 2 week hospital stay and 16 hospital visits later he's back home but with diabetes and since he was responsible for taking care of my mother who is not all there mentally anymore, I now have to look after them both. Chronic depression is not watching Marvel shit and posting on ResetEra. Chronic depression for my mother is lying in bed and staring at the ceiling not eating or drinking and that's after 12 pills. Imagine what it takes to bring someone back from that while your dad is possibly dying alone in the hospital because you can't leave her alone.
I wonder how many of those problems he describes are actually his, not self-diagnosed and not related to something or someone else.
Because if those were his, he would have no choice but to man up and take responsibility.

Yeah, nothing ever came of it, and he even has talked pretty openly about it interviews.
According to this NBC interview the piece of evidence he was arrested for apparently wasn’t even his and was actually from another case:

I guess he was arrested for some tape that wasn’t his that he wasn’t even involved with? Details are scarce but between that and fact that they didn’t find anything when they searched his house… I don’t know. Between that and the porno theater thing he got marked as a pedophile for years.

Quote:Reubens acknowledges possessing a massive collection of what he calls "vintage erotica,” films and muscle magazines with titles like: "Boy Nudist" and "Shame Dame," as well as some photographic studies of teen nudes. But he says that what the city attorney's office views as pornography, he considers art.
Reubens: “Magazines. photographs. films. Incredible, beautiful stuff that I stand behind.”
Phillips: “Did you ever stop and think while you were massing this collection, maybe it's not such a good idea, especially given what had happened back in 1991?”
Reubens: “I didn't. I never did. I wasn't really thinking to myself, wow this is my creepy, weird stuff that I shouldn't be collecting. It's not titillating. It's not something that I use for any kind of sexual purpose.”
Phillips: “Is it sensual, erotic to you, you acknowledge that?”
Reubens: “I think some of it is erotic. Some of it is sensual. Most of it I don't view like that. It seems so innocent to me. You would immediately look at that collection and to tell very, very, very quickly this is not a collection of child pornography.”
Phillips: “It wasn't obvious to the city attorney's office. They have characterized it quite differently. I mean, they say that in and amongst these magazines were photographs that depict people underage engaged in masturbation, oral copulation, in short, pornographic images.”
Reubens: “I know what they say. It depends upon whether it's you or the city attorney looking at them. It depends upon what one sees in those images for example.”
Phillips: “Well, it's pretty clear and pretty specific. I mean, were there photographs of young men, boys, underage people, performing, masturbating?”
Reubens: “No. Absolutely not. One hundred percent not.”
Phillips: “So what are they referring to when they describe it that way?”
Reubens: “One photograph for example has a young man with his hand on his thigh. It is close to his genitals, but not even that close. That's what they're calling somebody getting ready to perform a sex act.”
The city attorneys office told us the images involved are more graphic that what Reubens describes. Even so, last month the child pornography charges were dropped. Reubens agreed to plead guilty to possessing obscene images of minors.
Quote:Early on in the investigation, word leaked out that Reubens had possessed home video of teenage boys engaging in sexual acts, but late last year, his attorneys proved that the tape was never part of collection -- the product they believe of a mix-up in the LAPD evidence room.

I read that and I still don't completely understand what exactly the material he owned was. I guess I don't understand how the law differentiates between CP and "obscene images" of minors. And how is owning the latter not as bad as the former in the eyes of the law?

Spamming panels over engaging in thoughtful conversation and using them to actually back a point up, refusing to listen to what others are saying, and deliberately refusing to READ THE ROOM and understand that making people uncomfortable to the point that they disengage from the conversation isn't the same as making a valid point are all exceptionally awful behaviors to have as a lawyer."

I do not fault people for liking TDK more; it is probably the better paced movie and objectively has the best acting performance in the entire genre. Personally liked The Batman more though. Amusingly despite his reputation for being a violent brute, Batfleck spends most of the time in his two movies doing detective and prep work. Even most of his fights are observed/planned execution similar to how the Arkham games work rather than random fisticuffs. (And when fighting with the others he stays out of the way and provides support, his main contribution against Doomsday is using his remaining kryptonite gas canister he brought for Clark after Superman mentions it's also from Krypton.)

This is also why it got mixed up by the cops because they were seizing multiple bulk purchases.
The reason things top being obscene or porn by the law is that at some point it becomes "historical art" which is how the government displays paintings of woman's breasts in some of their museums. I would look up the specific painting I have in mind to post but I can't remember the woman who painted it, she sent it to Senator Daniel Webster because he fucked her so good.
edit: "painting breasts daniel webster" was enough to find it, as it apparently has a Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_Revealed
