It's weird how quiet the media seems to be about this. When Katrina happened I feel like you couldn't NOT hear about it, but I just am not really hearing much outside of my own circle of friends and some posts on Twitter. Am I just missing something or not paying enough attention?

I said the same thing yesterday, wherein it seems like the coverage on mainstream televised outlets isn't as hyper-focused as it was during Katrina. There's a lot of social media presence from people affected though. Your theories may abound as to why that is.

I'd like to see themes somehow make their way to the PS5. The themes on the PS3 were pretty useless for the most part to me. The PS4 ones were pretty rad even though Japan got a good share of exclusive ones that were leagues better than the ones in the west.

Not sure how hard it'd be to implement the themes though on the PS5. I liked the PS4 UI the best. Having no limit to scrolling for games installed that you can see on the dashboard was pretty nice, less clicking around to get to stuff.

I actually think giving more viz to "game news" is kind of well-intentioned, or potentially interesting...but not like this. I'm playing FF7 Rebirth lately and the background is an eyesore of a thumbnail that is clearly intended to be viewed as a much smaller, non-primary element of a page. 

I do love how the kneejerk RED ALERT: ADS LOCATED ON MY PRODUCT CONSUMPTION SOFTWARE DEVICE has completely confused the conversation though. These definitely aren't ads, though some publishers will obviously use a game's newsfeed to say "hey, there's new shit in the DLC store" or whatever. Now, why that triggers people who play these very same games which are likely to have aggressive and frequent new DLC pushes doesn't make sense to me, but also I'm not retarded...I think.

It's not like the censorship wasn't already being discussed, but Hori shining a light on it and how he went about it is going to make it impossible to avoid - and for a highly anticipated remake of all things. If Hori knew the traction this would gain, I doubt he would have still said it. He probably assumed TGS was a safe bubble to say his thoughts, nit realizing the reach it would have with the usual suspects. But now with Elon joining in? There's going to be a statement of some kind, but let's be honest, it's won't matter.

Hori has been in the industry for decades and he still in charge of the franchise even when is expanding to the west. He may not realized the traction it would get but he is not totally clueless about how shitty is saying this in the open, from a corporate viewpoint. 

Is a nice and refreshing statement for us, the people tired of gaming censorship, but he should have known it was going to create a PR issue, specially given of iconic those designs are in Japan. Doesn’t help that the original character designer of those games, you know, died this year! And the dude was beloved by both the west and Japan, unlike the old fart composer. 

I said in other post but if he disliked the changes so much he should have fighter against it harder, take the risk and move up the age rating or dissociate with project…
Because, while I liked, bitching about it in a livestream promoting the game is fucking insane.

Unless , of course, he genuinely believed it was going to cause a blowback and expect the consequences that will bring to the company and himself.

What's Square Enix going to do? Send them into "early" retirement after 11 Dragon Quests and lose 50% of their sales?

Also Dragon Quest unlike Final Fantasy was mostly a Japanese franchise to a fault. It wasn't until the PS2 and DS/3DS that they expanded it globally and very slowly started to adapt it to western markets.

Japan certainly took a stand at this years TGS. 
In prior years they limited the booth babes to cosplay contests and such and this year they had real life gacha machines and booth babes for every game.
