More Dragon Quest XIs

I got 5 party members and a ship about 15 hours in and I'm in a place called "Zwaardrust" which is actually Dutch for Sword Rest.

Didn't know much about this game before I started playing so after walking around a bunch of towns and dungeons, I'm surprised how big the world map actually is now that it has opened up.

This low level guy was trying to chase my Northstar across a couple matches and I could tell he was getting frustrated at not knowing the maps so I always escaped easily while harassing him. Finally he asked how I could hit and run so fast and I told him to equip the extra dash and remember it's the same as a Ronin. People think because Ronin has that big sword that he's a CQC God but he's super fragile and the sword sucks damage wise so you actually want to come out of nowhere from a flank, unload a bunch of damage and run away since nobody else can catch it. Northstar is literally the same speed and armor except you do the attack from far away, if someone starts running towards you not doomed, don't try to shoot them just run because they'll get too close before you can kill them and all your shit sucks at doing anything to them. lol (Also dash on your strafes back to cover, even when hovering, and the dummy other Northstars will shoot at air often.)

I've watched a few YouTubes to try and find what the damage on certain stuff was and they always explain super obvious stuff or things literally shown in game but never mention that snipers need to relocate and run when people come after them. You can often see this across games in all my years of capital-G Gaming that people think sniping should just be camping as if you actually have a means to stop anyone you see too late. You're supposed to move after your shot, watch the documentary Enemy at the Gates. Social Justice Warrior 2

Part of that though is just my opinion that the best way to play FPSes is to figure out how to be most annoying. Both TF2's really seem to encourage that, Overwatch obviously does, etc.

I'm surprised how much Dragon Ball is in Dragon Quest XI besides the art. I've just competed in a martial arts tournament and you can get "puff-puff" massages from bunny girls.

In fact quite a few NPC's have bunny ears for some reason Japancry

How would you know that was in DBZ?

I had never heard of it before DQ11.. :P

Don’t think you’re supposed to talk about that new Valve game. But hearing about it, I assumed it was a new Team Fortress and Overwatch style game. It’s not? It’s a moba as a third person shooter. Never played a moba and all the shit about lanes and creeps and shops goes over my primitive “shoot other team” brain.

Mostly it trigged those old fun memories of playing PVP shooters I’ve been away from for a number of years. Momentarily thought about reinstalling Overwatch. Shameful.

Dragon Quest XIS is still fun 25 hours in.

Mostly because of the variety in the main quest. It isn't all town -> dungeon -> boss -> key item.
There are curses, tournaments, trading quests, stealth missions, monster hunts, treasure hunts, escort missions etc. all part of the main quest.
Using Charm and other status effects is actually viable for plenty of battles in this game too.

Hello and welcome to a new episode of CyberChuds. Today Nintex is taking a brief look at a brand new Korean game that isn't Stellar Blade but could make us all pretty Stellar Wink

I tried The First Descendant on PC. I seldom play these type of GAAS games but this one looked interesting. When I started the game I could pick between some guy, a robot armor guardian and a boob window ice lady. Let's dive right in chuds and see what this game is all about.

[upbeat intro music]

Having an orgasm after touching a magic ball sets unforeseen consequences in motion, remember when nerds at Black Mesa had to push carts into beams? What is your favorite videogame intro, tell us in the comment section below.

Here is a rapid fire list of pro's and cons of The First Descendant
+ Frankly beautiful graphics in terms of looks even though she went a bit overboard with the vaseline to 'smooth out' the edges
+ Gun play is fine but lacks a bit of oompf and weight as is often the case in these type of... games
+ You can do a 'private' session as well as 'public' if you need help from someone with a little more 'experience' to join the party
+ It isn't a 'dry spell' if you don't spend any money. The game seems pretty generous in terms of basic 'equipment' drops
+ Fast travel and other convenient options are available to move around to different zones or back to Albion where all the socializing happens or doesn't happen
+ The hookshot is great and allows you to zip up high places whilst maintaining the ability to adjust the camera for a 'good look'

(insert some gameplay footage)

This is ultra settings, sans ray tracing, pants are optional

- Slow narration, especially the optional radio logs, which is like a guy talking about filing a supply complaint for 5 minutes, reminds me of AI, oh wait
- Lots of monetization, you can buy swimsuits, battle passes, new characters and lots of other fake stuff for real money
- Cookie cutter enemies (the berserker, the suicide drone, the sniper etc.)
- Cookie cutter objectives (defend computer, use radio tower, defeat big enemy)
- Some slowdown on a RTX 4070 Ti but I forgot update my drivers, so that's probably the issue

The Vulgus are flying away, yes they are called the Vulgus and their ships are shaped like  omg

I remember reading impressions that this was a mobile game but I'm not sure I agree. Sure, the game has those big button UIs and movement is a bit floaty but it controls more like CONTROL than it does Nikke. Overall the gameplay loop is fine and fine is really all she has to be, right? A black man named Alpha is telling us what to do but doesn't trust the Guide who is a red headed woman so that is very confusing for Bunny who I am trying to unlock. Bunny is quite demanding and requires 4 items acquired through missions as well as lots of in-game coins. Of course you can also buy her heart but where is the fun in that? So I blasted my way through a wave of enemies for 2 hours and now I only need 1 more item and millions and millions of space dollars to unlock Bunny.

I wonder if Jesse Faden is somewhere up there or is this the underside of HALO Infinite, no wait I lost my way in Minecraft looking for the bathroom in Kingdom Hearts

Anyway I can see myself wasting some time in this game until she gets repetitive and my needs are no longer statisfied. If you spend money you can probably increase the time you'll enjoy your time together but I fear this one will age quickly and won't hold your interest if something better crosses your path.

I love that game. It was the first JRPG I finished. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is great as well. The opening on the ship doesn’t do it any favours but once you get on the island it opens up. I put God knows how many hours into it.

I stopped playing DQXI after the first "ending." Need to get back into it and eventually play the 2d version from start to finish.

Just picked up World of Outlaws 24 racing since iracing had some sort of hand in it and it's a ton of fun (and my gaming laptop went bsod so no iracing) if you're into driving irresponsibly for fun and turning left.

I stopped playing DQXI at the tournament..

I just unlocked Freyna "normal" form after grinding for the materials but the research takes 16 hours

Good that she isn't taking mind control drugs I guess Trumps

These ultimate forms are crazy though. drop rates for the materials are like 2% - 3%.

Bought UFO 50, looking forward to trying it.

Bought Parking Garage Rally Circuit, and achieved Silver on the first 4 tracks. It's got pretty smooth controls but I don't yet understand the Boost gameplay.

Tried to play GTA Online a bit since they offered Oktoberfest Lederhosen outfits for free, but the car controls feel like garbage after playing so much Fortnite and the vehicles there are more-or-less my ideal level of playful physics. Dunno if I can play this any longer. Ironically, after the Road Warrior themed previous season, and getting really good at car driving, the new meta is jetpacks and flying, and I can't be bothered to learn.

I don't understand why the Battle Theme in Metaphor:ReFantazio has to suck this much

It constantly reminds me of this trash

It sucks so fucking much

And to see Bepbo and Demi call the actual battle theme hot shit is making me sad

FF7: Rebirth. I really want to dislike it, structurally. I can "see the matrix" with what they're doing here...10 hours of padding between Kalm and the mines, 10 hours of padding between the Mines and Upper Junon...they're wasting my time with bullshit and laughing in my face!

But I'm having fun.

It's funny, my problem with the ReFantazio demo is that the goofy ass battle music is the ONLY song I liked.

The rest of the music...?

Played some Mafia Definitive Edition

Graphics are crazy good and the game holds up well in this 'remastered' form.
In my memory the missions were longer and you died quicker in the original though.

Finally playing through Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on switch. It's a grindy but a fun brawler now that I figured out how stuns and staggers work; I'm doing far less button mashing, but its still controlled mashing nonetheless. Not sure about leveling all the characters to a functional level though. The story is whatever, but I just making a superhero team.

Also, Diablo 4 expansion is quite fun. The spiritborn is essentially a monk from D3 with an animal skill. I played a ton of monk in D3, so it feels pretty easy to get into the class.
