I would be totally shocked by that ban if Palestinian advocates, and indeed progressives in general, hadn't been being banned here for such a long time. I am disgusted by it, however. Withholding your vote is a completely valid political expression, especially in the face of an admin committing genocide. It is very clear Shoot was anticipating the common, oft-posted counter-argument of "so you want everyone else to burn???!" by saying if that were to be the consequence (which they are not advocating or wishing for), it doesn't change their decision - which is perfectly valid.

If Nepenthe were to open their own forum, I would join that. I greatly value their contributions here.

Not following all the specifics here, but in general the people making a fuss are bluffing. When gaf stuff went down, people posted porn and stuff to get banned. Era is all these guys have. There’s a reason they always crawl back with alts. Their revolt is PG hem and hawing out of fear of recourse. They have no leverage. Making a reresetera wouldn’t work when they’re all the same person with the same slogans. They get off on distributing and annoying normal people. Imagine a forum where you can’t post “she-hulk is good, actually” because nobody is allowed to say it’s bad.

If Bdumbs had to courage he could clean house on all of them and the overwhelming majority of the userbase would not care in the slightest.  They have no leverage.  He should add likes so we can see where things stand.

What Shoot said is: "This is why we withhold our vote and this is why white liberal crocodile tears will not sway us. If everything will burn around us as a result let it all burn. That threat is the only power we have and we will use it."

It is extremely and explicitly clear that they mean they will withhold their vote and liberal threats that everything will burn down will not dissuade them: ""This is why we withhold our vote and this is why white liberal crocodile tears will not sway us." That IF that happens, then so be it: "If everything will burn around us as a result let it all burn." Because they will not give up their democratic power and right to withhold their vote, since: "That threat is the only power we have and we will use it."

This is a very reasonable position to take, especially in opposition to a genocide of your own people. It is categorically not calling for things to burn or supporting it burning, simply refusing the threat of it happening to render them powerless.

It's not even very bad faith to read their post as accelerationist; it's simply wrong.

M.O.B.A. Network or whatever it's called that owns this site now should seriously overhaul the entire mod team.
Every time this forum gets mentioned somewhere else (reddit, discord etc) the laughable moderation here is always something that gets mentioned.
All they do in these mod meetings, powertripping and patting themselves on the back no self reflection whatsoever.

You only need to look at the recent response to the Asian era drama
It won't get better from here, constructive criticism falls on deaf ears here.
