Is fucking weird how the video starts with “video games portrays Arabs as violent” when the current war was initiated by a terrorist attack. 

That desire to help but being clueless on how to do it outside platitudes…

I clicked through the video and later someone else also says how it is wrong that Ukrainians fighting against Russians are resistance fighters but Palestinians fighting against Israel are called terrorists and it just really makes me scratch my head how people can just let this stand uncritical. Like we don't see Ukrainians blow up Russian bus stations, do we? We don't see them invading small villages and massacring every Russian living there in the most brutal ways imaginable, do we?

Like why is it that when people ask for a more nuanced perspective on this conflict, away from "Israel good, Palestine evil" they actually just inverse it, and ditch any nuance themselves as well.

It perfectly encapsulates the asymmetry at play here, and it's extremely suspect that after all these years Druckmann doesn't seem capable of acknowledging Israel's outsized role in perpetuating violence in the region.

IIRC Druckmann grew up in an illegal settlement in the West Bank, there's a nonzero chance his family actually kicked out a rightful owner of the house out of it (not saying that this is what actually happened, just that wouldn't be surprising at all). I don't expect a person like that to care about Palestinian lives, at all.

The fact that violent resistance against an occupying soldier seems to have made more of an emotional impact on him than decades of ethnic cleansing, apartheid and colonisation is not a normal response, no. He did grow up in one of the colonies in the West Bank so I don't think it's a stretch to suspect he has some pretty problematic views.

And the closing message is INSANE. Since when gaming journalists and developers like Tamoor Husain and Rami Ismail are random youtubers?
