The dude is reasonable until he gets to DVDs and CDs, then it’s clear he actually means that he doesn’t see any problem with not owning shit. 

"One of the things we saw is that gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen. They got comfortable not owning their CD collection or DVD collection. That's a transformation that's been a bit slower to happen [in games]. As gamers grow comfortable in that aspect… you don't lose your progress. If you resume your game at another time, your progress file is still there. That's not been deleted. You don't lose what you've built in the game or your engagement with the game. So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game.

"I still have two boxes of DVDs. I definitely understand the gamers perspective with that. But as people embrace that model, they will see that these games will exist, the service will continue, and you'll be able to access them when you feel like. That's reassuring."

The end game is what people have problems with and I don’t care about what a corpo wants. Not even buying digital is guaranteed to keep your stuff.

I like those services, but I also love the option of owning shit, something that all digital seem to wary to give us (just ask Sony and Warner Discovery).

I'm not trying to imply anything, genuinely I can accept not having physical discs in a case as long as it means I can store it locally somehow and it doesn't require phoning home to some service that will one day go down forever, as many services already have

the problem isn't physical vs. digital, it's locally stored digital vs. tightly-controlled-by-the-parent-company "licensed" content

I know he dispels the idea that the movie production effects the anime but in my mind Yu-Gi-Oh DSOD totally is why the anime airing at the time Arc-V went to shit.

Also Baron Omotsuri is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Best thing to come out of One Piece.

Not anime per say but makes me think of the Kamen Rider films which have a lot of the same issues with feeling like an expanded filler.

To be honest, I have trouble listening to some of those videos and I feel guilty about it. Not because of the trans thing. It’s the strained fake voice that’s difficult to listen to. There’s this one interview with Quentin Tarantino, it’s on a black radio show, and the entire time he puts on this bizarre jive affectation out of a blaxploitation movie. It’s so awkward. That’s what it feels like. Not trying to sound like a real person, but some borderline parody.
