I haven't kept up with this drama so I have no idea who is in the wrong. If he owned a tiny bit of msft stock, whatever, everyone with domestic large cap has msft. Like probably 1/3 people.

the idea that whatever investment he had is enough to make him unacceptably biased is hilarious, as if the ppl with hundreds of posts in the OT of their fave aren't invested to a bigger degree

i don't agree with how he has run the forum, but i think he is at least trying to make ppl happy. the problem is that the ppl he's trying to appease will never actually be happy, and will turn on him in a hot second

case in point, morrigan. she shows up to defend the past or present mods every time. even in discords, someone badmouths a mod and she's there to say how great they are and you just don't know them. dubs bares his heart, goes on break? crickets.

i'm sure that has nothing to do with morri flouncing out after her discord comments surfaced... in the sony discord

it's from when she quit as mod because of the whole sales data thread blowup. ppl pointed out that it looked pretty bad that she was in a sony-era discord saying shit like "you won't get banned if you defend us"

mostly funny because she's in discords now acting like b-dubs "still moderating the ms/abk thread after investing in ms" is real shady. again, if someone shittalks era mod decisions, she either defends them or says "oh that's a silly ban." because she sees this as being pro-xbox, it's suddenly real shit.

I won't have to ban anyone. I'm not going to ban anyone unless they post stuff that goes against very clearly defined rules of which there are few.

Under my leadership it would be like the good old days. You'd come home to post a few memes, watch a few trailers, learn some industry secrets and maybe dabble into some T&A, news or politics if you felt like it. Gaming would be the main thing but there wouldn't be any mandatory ideology or a set of ideals pushed on you. None of this 'holier than thou' shit. Back then your income didn't matter, it mattered that you could find all the skulls in HALO or some shit. 

What killed NeoGAF/ResetEra is conformity. We used to have gamers, journalists, yuropeans, americans, gays, japanese, conservatives, liberals, progressives, everyone together on the same board. You made fun of the Xboxers when the Xbox sold 3 units in Japan and then got laughed at when Nintendo charged $50 for a Super Mario All Stars ROM on a disk. However that was never the fault of 'capitalism' just company executives being retarded. 

We shared many great moments as a community and that is sadly not happening anymore on ResetEra. It could happen again if people made the right choice

I'm pretty sure Resetera would thrive if everyone who didn't break any laws were unbanned and a like system put into place. Let it be the wild west.

I know for a fact that many industry folks would like to have a place to vent and talk about the lay offs and current industry conditions within certain limits.

How things were going on the forum dictated my entire life. Would I eat? Would I sleep? Would I cancel my plans? Would I call in sick to work? Would I talk to my wife that night? My existing blood pressure problems began to agitate and worsen. I developed insomnia because I'd be afraid to go to sleep. I went on emergency health hiatus before my wedding. I couldn't continue to do something that had such a dramatic impact on my life that had nothing to do with my family. I could have kept going if I was stronger. But I wasn't. I had so much going on and something had to go. I retired due to my deteriorated condition and how much worse I would get if I didn't make a change.

I know exactly how much time and emotion it consumes to do this kind of work. It takes bravery. It takes sacrifice. It takes selflessness and compassion. It is prideless work. There is no such thing as a professional moderator. Nobody has the breadth of knowledge and context to address every single topic or situation with flawless judgment. We were just people, members of the community, trying their best for the benefit of everyone here. No decision is ever perfect, no situation is ever the same as one before it, and it never stops. However hard something hits you, or however long it took to resolve, the forum never stops. People always need you. There is always something happening somewhere. Doing that together for so long with so many people I cared so much about was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. But it was never, ever easy.

It's supposed to be fun Dubsy, that's what you lot forgot. Both with gaming and posting on video game boards. Palworld is fun because slave Pokemon with guns is fun. It was always about the fun, if it made us miserable most of us wouldn't do it. We were in class or at work killing some time and having a good time. It was more exciting to post about the latest Xbox sales figures from Japan or crazy Nintendo rumors than it was listening to some dumb lecture I completely forgot about already. I usually spend my time quality posting when I need to copy paste shit, send invoices, fill in calendars or do taxes or whatever. Simple as.

Even now I'm mostly having a laugh between 2 ZOOM meetings at Final Fantasy Transanity Genocides™ .
