Just tried the Unicorn Overlord demo... the priestess's boob jiggling is super blatant and completely obnoxious. And while she's "fully" clothed, she wears a boob sock shirt that makes the constant jiggle very visible at all times.

I feel sorry for her back. Her look is generally quite cute but I don't get why they had to make her so stacked and the pidgeon toeing is ridiculous

Yuffie is introduced and is nearly drowned by a monster. Cloud is asked to help with saving her life by performing chest compressions. The camera lingers on her breasts as Cloud hesitates to touch her in that area. Yuffie wakes up, sees him looming over her with his hands outstretched and calls him a pervert. The pervert joke would be tired on its own, but why is the game inviting the audience to leer at a 14 year old's body?? The presumed straight male player is expected to be like, "haha, I get it bro! Tough decision to save her when she's got boobies near where your hand would be!!!"

I sometimes wish the people in charge of making giant games like this had life experiences outside of watching tv for adolescents.

When I saw this in the game I went "ARE YOU KIDDING ME" out loud and immediately DM'd one of my friends on discord to yell about it.

This joke has never, ever been funny, and it's even worse when it's done at the expense of a fucking child.

It has been said before, but it indeed feels like the main takeaway studios and medias had from lady Dimitrescu's online popularity was that participating in (and creating content that baits for) hornyposting gone viral is now acceptable enough, and good for social media engagement and therefore business.

This is sadly not new, as I've said before, the majority of the game press have the maturity of teenage boys and any topic relating to sex or sexualisation is rarely handled with any class or seriousness. It's something that's frustrated me for a long time seeing sites like Kotaku or Polygon on one hand push articles discussing harassment of women in the industry/community and sexualization and then push articles that push the very mentality that helps promote and cause that behaviour on the other. I remember Kotaku was really eye rolling back when Witcher 3 was all the rage.

It does make me wonder if this stuff bothers women journalists, especially those who do push for less objectification or cover sexism in the industry. I can't imagine it must feel good knowing the publication your working at is willing to use eye-rolling stuff like this promote their online guide of all things (which given how terrible IGN's guide a get the sense aren't read much).

Out of curiosity, what are some of the best gaming publications for avoiding stuff like this or do regularly report on sexualization in games etc?

Stop projecting your prudishness onto others. You lot have a habit of thinking everyone who shares some intrinsic traits of yours (race, sex, sexuality, etc...) agrees with your worldview. It's entirely possible the women at IGN either approves or just don't care. Likely some mix of both.
