For me, I'd just kinda accepted that life was what it was and the me not being happy with how I looked, or comfortable about being gendered or expected to act, or wishing I'd been born the opposite sex was just wishful thinking that everyone went through.

That sounds fair… this is what actually annoyed me:

I was able to channel that energy into a workshop at work pushing for increased diversity and authentic representation in game narratives and it was a good first start.

i remember that one time i had painted nails and i asked a girl that was around what she thought and she said that it was sexy and i was drunk and thought "did i just break the code"

I once had a man get weird with it when he saw my cherry-red nails when I was boy-moding. I was tempted to point out the irony in him getting tweaked at coloured accents on the end of my fingers while being completely fine with his own colourful tattoo on his arm. The disconnect on having some colour on your nails is wild. Painted nails feel and look so nice. Like 'I want people to see these' nice. The amount of things people would enjoy if they weren't 'locked' behind either gender, but don't because they are and will live their one life and die without getting to revel in that side of things is genuinely sad to me. Being trans isn't a walk in the park, but I'm thankful for the sheer amount of scales that fall from your eyes around these things and just how few fucks you end up giving about what you should or shouldn't like. In the immortal words of one Miles Morales: "Nah, I'mma do my own thing".

Kyuuji sweetie, don't pretend that you guys were the first men to wear nail polish in public and get stares or whatever you thought. In the early 90's my goth girlfriend would put on my nail polish and guy-liner before we would dress up and go out for the night. We would get strange looks too, when we were in public. People would give us weird looks and ask goofy questions. It's because we looked different than most people. It's not that complicated. Humans have been dressing as the opposite gender and stuff like that since forever. That's not the issue most people have with your type.

Also, I don't think the reason people act weird around you is because of the nail polish. Just a guess.

In the Digital Foundry video they showed a scene where Yuffie is playing around with some materia and rolling it back and forth across her chest from hand to hand and it felt...purposeful, if that makes sense, in the same context as what you bring up.

The game really, really fixates on Yuffie's body. When she does her dramatic "throw off the moogle cloak" magical girl intro sequence when she joins the party, the first camera cut is RIGHT onto her boobs, before her face, her hands, or any other part of her body. It's just "cloak goes off, smash cut to boobs, then a bunch of other dramatic camera angles".

Please stop doing this with Yuffie, Square. It's not sexy. It's not funny either. Just stop.

Back when I was unenlightened, my (then) wife saw me playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake and was literally sick on the dog, and on me, when she saw Aerith's ankles. I tried to explain to her that I didn't make the game and none of it was my choice, and that if I had she'd be wearing socks at any rate, and when I look back on it now it was one of the final nails in the coffin of the marriage and when I opened up to her about being a trans little furry puphood gooner the fucking bitch divorced me.
