It's extremely frustrating how apparently easy it is to take a previously existing, at least moderately representative of all views, and turn it in a completely right wing shithole.

I once made the mistake of mentioning literally one time to someone at work that I was excited to play Metroid Dread this upcoming weekend. He got excited. "Metroid! I remember that. Man, I love that game. It's on Switch? Awesome. My kids will have to turn off the MarioKart for a bit but I think I have to try this!"

The next Monday rolled around and he asked me for help on the first EMMI encounter. You know, like the first 10 minutes of the game that's basically a tutorial. Said he was stuck and couldn't figure it out.

It’s not surprising at all the stems from the religious freedom part of the first amendment.
People who invoke this will come off looking like a bigot and intolerant. These unpopular decisions come from, again the religious portion of the first amendment. In my opinion, all religions are pretty stupid, but this is just a protection of that it’s really not that big of a deal again it just highlights, an individuals intolerance and bigotry, and plenty of LGBTQ people can go elsewhere easily.

TO BE CLEAR I REALLY DISAGREE WITH THIS RULING.

But its much more nuanced than people are getting. Basically, people can’t flat out refuse lgtbq business. They must prove that their work is tied to their religious expression and expression as a whole. If it is, then the court can’t force someone to express themselves bc it goes against the first amendment.

There was a famous case where an asshole refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. The court made the same ruling here bc he said the cake making was his art.

This woman in this case says her design was her art. It’s really just dumb and sad. Just know that it takes a bit more to prove and its not just a blanket refusal. The refuser must prove why, and it makes them look really bad IMO. Just a tiny silver lining.
