There's a long academic "debate" in the social sciences and philosophy of science and related going back to the 1970's that science as a process should come only after political/social goals are determined and only allowed when it is guaranteed to result in good outcomes. This actually isn't anywhere that new, every religion in world history has done the same thing. Our governments decide this stuff every day for us for our own good.

The tenets of social justice apply this priority of politics to every aspect of life, so why wouldn't science be the same as cultural or economic decisions, revolutionaries in the past have always done this:

I think the more overarching conversation is the lack of free time in our capitalists state. However, that's a bit too conceptual.

I remember how I would get FOMO on weekends and try to pack it with activities and social meetups. If I didn't do much, it would feel like a disappointment. I had the concept of the wasted weekend, where I would binge Netflix, play games, and do errands here and there. And I would feel guilty.

But in the last few years, I take my weekends more slow. Moreover, I try to do things on weekdays too I"m not living for the weekends.

This Saturday will be relaxed as an example. Probably do some laundry, groceries, and some entertainment--books, games, etc.
