My stance is this: when the creator of a game is someone who is openly, blatantly bigoted, I won't support them. It's literally impossible to be perfectly ethical in a capitalist system, but when the people who are the reason a piece of media exists at all are bigots actively pushing narratives that make life worse for innocent people, that media is tainted by association in my book.

It's no different from how I will not support anything related to the Harry Potter IP because JK Rowling openly and unapologetically wants my friends to die. The IP is Rowling and giving her money would just allow her to keep spending it to fund legislation to erase trans people from existence.

I don't expect you to necessarily share the exact same stance as me, but I think that open bigotry is a slightly different kind of situation than "drama", if that makes sense.

I haven't played D4 since last year, I'm not buying the expansion, I have never even touched Overwatch, and I haven't played WoW since Mists of Pandaria. If you think I'm some kind of hardcore Blizzard fan, you're looking in the wrong place.

Everyone is going to feel like their opinion is correct, so this is just my opinion, but I think this kind of thinking is just a flimsy excuse to enjoy your pleasures without having to be responsible about it. If you purchased this game, you are directly supporting the creators. Your money, in a roundabout way obviously, goes directly into their pockets. Without money, they cannot continue making things. Without making things, they would not have a platform from which to spout awful nonsense or promote terrible agendas.


I agree that we can separate art from the artist but only if you steal the art or if the artist is dead.

Do you ever buy a chocolate bar from horrible companies like Nestle, that do unfathomable real world damage to people and ecosystems? You know, just so that you can enjoy your pleasures.

On the diversity front, MonolithSoft has been improving as of late going by how well they handled Taion in Xenoblade 3 (who I'd argue is one of the best Black characters in an RPG).

Console bombed, but produced plenty of games they were able to port to their next console at full price. Sony ain’t getting shit out of concord. 

3ds bombed worse considering they had to lower the price massively less than a year in and basically ended Nintendo making standalone handheld consoles.
