Immigration is a depressing topic. It's fascinating how they're so ungodly obsessed with lesbians and lesbianism but as soon as it's something that's "too sexy" for them then they hate it.

The first thing they do is assess the status of the person/group, since they, like MAGA, assume undocumented immigrants are poor brown queer migrants (most are visa overstays) that instantly activates their reaction circuits to start justifying anything and everything they do and considering any and all problems to be deliberately imposed on them out of hatred.

But really the important thing is they don't care because their complaint isn't one they want addressed. When you say "but that's not true and this idea is stupid even if you support them" they're going to get to the actual topic they want: the elimination of capitalism for the establishment of a totalitarian state. Which they want because they assume this is the source of everything they don't like because they think it sounds really smart to ascribe all things to a single source of evil. And the only real problem ever is a lack of cops and enough bans.

"But they don't pay income taxes" is just going to get responses of "that's no reason they should be denied owning a home!" Even though they regularly argue that nobody should be able to own a home or any kind of property and there should only be state housing blocks. You're not supposed to notice that in this case they could be enabling non-income-taxpayers to become landlords at state expense because in their mind they can only see one type of undocumented immigrant who fits their mental model of the oppressed class.

None of their principles suggest they should support immigration of any kind or home ownership or capital acquisition, but the social and cultural mores of their perceived circles demand they do here* and so they have to display proper outrage with all the party slogans. Even someone like Booshka can't stop himself.

*largely by imagining that immigrants are inherently a cultural threat to capitalism, colonialism, white supremacy and cissupremacy, which again they agree with MAGA on

By and large the desirable areas of California hit build-out years ago for the housing stock that people actually want. And nothing is going to change that. 

Should have moved to Arizona or Texas while they were still cheap, Booshka, lmao.

As far as NIMBYs go, shockingly rezoning that effectively allows developers with access to almost infinite funding to outbid families for single family homes, tear down houses, and lets the DR Hortons start cramming in their crapshack townhomes in sleepy neighborhoods isn't popular, sorry not sorry. I also have a hard time buying that people shouldn't have a voice in the development of their own neighborhoods but a bunch of progressive YIMBY activists (that totally aren't bankrolled by deveopers) should get the only say.
