Malody can't get government assistance because he lives at home with his parents rent free. This dipshit expects people to believe that the kind couple that puts a roof over the head of their ungrateful and creepy son doesn't also feed him.
One user called him out when he posted the kofi only to be permanently banned. Despite this being one of the main causes of the definitely real trans genocide, they have since been unbanned. I always wondered how they pulled that off. I assume they just linked to this thread in their ticket.

The real answer is legislation and rules/consequences. The legal system is not prepared for that though because it's been laid bare that enough money = no consequences. Quote:Time to break up the media companies, bring back the fairness doctrine, and remove ratings counts from news programs.
Somebody actually corrected this in the thread surprisingly.
Quote:Funny thing is carrying Trumps water doesn't guarantee a future for the press in another Trump administration. They seem to think they will survive to report on all the drama Trump brings that they live so much. I wonder if they ever stop to consider they might find themselves locked up or shutdown when God King doesn't like something they've said.
I love how they always go for this explanation, that everyone else is being a "pick me" and that's the only reason they do anything.
They all start convincing themselves the media is against them:
Quote:It's been happening so much, I've literally lost all faith on how the media will portray the debate. I am certain no matter how bad Trump does, they will cover for him.
Quote:It's why Trump is going to win. He cant be held accountable and Harris can do no right. The same thing with Clinton.
Quote:Even excluding right-wing media the last few years have just been beyond fucking pathetic to watch. Legitimizing the endless culture wars and right-wing clown show, completely perpetuating the status quo, baiting readers with pathetically transparent headlines and skimpy articles. It's so disasppointing. The latest shit with "interpreting" the inane shit Trump is trying to say to try to weave it into coherent policy rather than disorganized, stream-of-consciousness lying is bordering on criminal negligence when it comes to delivering the truth. I hate it.
And outside of that I have so many issues with NY Times and their clumsy and sometimes borderline-offensive heel-turn into making everything about identity. If I read one more article written by some bearded white fucking dork that's basically saying "hey music-lovers, did you know BLACK WOMEN play acoustic guitar TOO!?" or "meet these GAY hikers" I am going to scream. It's so de-normalizing and othering despite its (I'm assuming) opposite intentions. Yes, black people play guitar not just rap, gay guys climb mountains not just work out in gay gyms, etc. I find these kinds of articles so infantilizing and ridiculous.
Quote:The median NYT reader; reasonably wealthy, right of center sheltered whites, are probably the people who love to be wowed like little children at the science museum regarding the diversity roles you mentioned.
Quote:They were doing this before. Point in case, the NYT makes good money (recipes, crosswords, etc) and plenty of people signed up after 2016 and they carried on doing the same nonsense. They seem to actively revel in it tbh.
The über rich and conservative class has bought up the main lines of communication and push their lines accordingly. Is there money in newspapers or cable television channels? Not really, but you can launder plenty of shit views to legacy consumers year round at a relatively low cost.
It doesn't help that many of the tech bros that started or run a lot of the main services today view news/politics as one more thing to commercialize, have minimal, if any, ethics to ground themselves in, and/or eventually redpill themselves into even more insufferable douchebags (Zuckerberg, Musk, etc).
Quote:Timely as I spent lunch discussing how much we expected the debate tmrw to be a shitshow almost entirely due to the media likely planning to drag Kamala down a peg as it feels time they soften out of a honeymoon phase.
krazen wrote:As long as the editors/publishers are rich and white it's just selling product. Throw in private equity, rage clicks = profit and a once honorable profession is shit. ABC tomorrow headlines although Trump barely answered a single question I think he made good points and Harris did as well she did fine.
No one will remember you in 10 years and all your conservative owned bosses will be embarrassed and forced to pay the taxes they owe to the Harris administration. As a crazed poet once said in song
The old get old
And the young get stronger
May take a week
And it may take longer
They got the guns
Well, but we got the numbers
Gonna win, yeah
We're takin' over
Come on!
Then a guy actually pushes back against the weirdos and a conspiracy theorist takes him to task:
Quote:Quote:from my perspective, those hyper-consumed about the state of corporate media in whats largely campaign-based coverage (which we've always been in since Trump first became the republican front runner all the way up to the present moment) tend to self-absorbed in their own media bubble. It's important that mass media its criticized, and its role in influencing the positions of everyday people, that's certainly important. Yeah, the media shapes narratives, but also its not like access journalism has gone away and they don't play ball with the dems. Everybody saw Biden's clear mental decline, and you had the Press Secretary claim those videos were AI fake news. No they werent! Certainly some people created edit videos but the actual footage tracks with the characterization and we know that because it happened often! And the prevailing, dominant opinion amongst the commentariat was "Biden is doing just fine, its offensive to imply his age is a factor cause trump also old and bad but also biden is fine" Just complete head in the sand stuff and the elation of Kamala being passed the torch allowed many people to realize how well they were getting stringed along too.
What? The media had been playing up the mental decline angle since 2022.
https://css.seas.upenn.edu/new-york-times-a-case-study-in-inconsistent-narrative-selection-and-framing-that-tends-to-favor-republicans/
In fact, the only thing Kamala Harris showed is the media by large still will cover for Trump.
Quote:Quote:If you think of it as a binary, mutually exclusive "if they're being biased towards trump that means they're not aligned with the democrats" then you'll be confused. Otherwise you have to explain why they tolerated the White House's narrative that Biden was doing A-OK when it was uncle genocide grandpa's nap time. And it *was* toleration up until the debate, given the overnight about-face and the floodgates opened. All those press hits Pelosi did? Come on. This stuff was an open secret to people who paid attention and the actual players themselves. The only people were misled were those who naively think the media's softpeddling of trump coverage as proof that they don't softpeddling shit for dems all the time.
What? No. This is just flat out wrong.
The NYT coverage was explicitly because the NYT owner felt slighted. The CNN coverage is explicitly cause Zaslav wanted CNN to lean more conservative.
But your downplaying of Russia's influencing elections tells me I probably shouldn't engage with you.

Mean while, China does not produce very many global video games. Maybe the don't have to.
I thought capitalism was worse for video games, but now I'm not sure. What do you think?
Quote:The cure (or improvement) for capitalism isn't communism, it's capitalistic socialism.
Platy wrote:Communism is better if you like indie games
ideally everyone would have the means to work their hobbies and this would be amazing for small indie games
Capitalsm is better if you like AAA games, as they are the ones more geared towards profit and enrichment
So communism Quote:Politics is certainly not that black and white.
But in an ideal "optimal" world where we don't really need to worry about money, because our society is run efficiently by computers/robots and humans only chip in with as much work as they like and can spend the rest of their time on hobbies, I do think we'd see a lot more great indies and smaller sized games, but the giant AAA offerings might just take ten years each to make. Unless passionate developers improve the open-source tools so much that making games is much faster and more efficient and everyone involved is all in and loving the process and okay, I'm just rambling at this point.
I've voted communism.
Platy wrote:Concord is uniquely a failure of capitalism in the sense that is a failure that can only exist in capitalism.
It's failure is basically because executives saw something making money, put A LOT of money into making more (because more money = more profit) and didn't considered that after the time it takes to make it, the market would be overcrowded.
Concord's budget and how it failed is connectec to capitalism because AAA and profit seeking GaaS games are insanely connected to capitalism.
Communism would not have AAA and would not have GaaS because it is not a profit centered system Mauricio_Magus wrote:Communism requires an international effort that I don't think we'll see in our lifetimes, sadly.
Also Capitalism is going to end humanity so... I guess Capitalism is worse for gaming because gaming will not even exist in the future.
And China isn't even communist, technically speaking no country can even be communist because communism requires the end of the state or whatever the fuck, whatever. Quote:There are no communist countries in the world today. One could argue there has never been one, period.
Quote:Considering the stated goal of Communism is to allow the laborer freedom to pursue their own interests and goals for the sake of fulfillment, I don't see why gaming couldn't exist under such a society. Granted they likely wouldn't be to the scale we know them as today but they'd probably be far more diverse, personal and interesting.
Uh, no it's not.
Chief Malik wrote:China's uses a hybrid system that combines market mechanisms with strong state control and socialist values. Unlike let's say…. the states (where I'll just assume OP is from), China's focus is on long-term development, poverty alleviation, and collective welfare. It has lifted millions out of poverty, avoiding the pitfalls of unchecked market systems like in the states. China's approach is about prioritizing social stability and communal progress over PURE profit. Look into the fall of the soviet union and how they went out in their way to avoid that without becoming a neoliberal wasteland like the states.
Quote:It's people named Jeff, if people would stop naming their kids Jeff, everything would work out.
SHOTS FIRED
Then two guys reply to Chief Malik:
Quote:That is a WILDLY charitable explanation of how China works.
Have you ever been to China? One of my oldest friends has lived there for nearly 10 years, and the day to day he experiences is not at all China prioritizing long-term development, poverty alleviation, and communal progress. At all.
Quote:You are regurgitating government propaganda.
- China has some of the poorest social safety net, it is tiered and CCP officials get the best stuff
- China has some of the highest real estate prices in the world even after years of declining (yes, worse than the US now: check out what "six wallets" mean)
- China does not really have universal healthcare, its system is again, tiered, and poor, rural people get the worst healthcare
- China tries to achieve social stability by the most oppressive panopticon-like surveillance system ever exists
- The criteria of China's "lifting poverty" is extremely low; still 600 million people lives on <$150 a month
I've seen such rhetoric spouted by ignorant westerners so many times I've lost count.
China doesn't have *strong state control*; the state acts like a company: a (many elite) family-owned, dynastic company, much like the zaibatsu in Japan. It is owned by the elites, not any one of us.
