Trans people are not a monolith. Personally, I'm glad he listened to a trans person, changed his mind, and didn't follow through with his attempt to evoke trans panic for shock value and entertainment. Some people wouldn't have changed their mind about doing such a dumb stunt if they're already financially and publicly committed. I am grateful that he didn't do it and that he shared his reasons in a way that might make someone realize how ugly and dangerous transphobic "pranks" are.

But my life doesn't get better as a trans person if Steve-O is appropriately harangued for making such a stupid plan to begin with. It also probably doesn't get better if he is congratulated and feels loved and becomes a big trans rights activist. I don't feel better about humanity or era or my future if someone Steve-O will never meet or interact with says "he's still a piece of shit who should have known better." If a "trans ally" thinks calling Steve-O a piece of shit helps the trans community more than spending five minutes doing text banking or emailing a form letter to their representatives, I'd like to know in what way they think it does.

I wouldn't say my feelings here are any form of apathy though. Enmity, sure. Fear, disgust, rage, loathing, despair, lots of big emotions. Certainly not apathy. Like, I don't want to step on any toes here & I know plenty of queer men that behave properly when it comes to lesbians & don't make us feel uncomfortable, but I can't think of a single thread where lesbians in media have been the focus in a topic on Era that was longer than a single page or two that didn't have lesbians be vocal about feeling uncomfortable with how we were talked about by men. seroun is far from the only lesbian/sapphic person in this thread alone that has voiced concerns about how men on Era talk about lesbians & women in general. This is, frankly, about lesbians & sapphic people feeling uncomfortable due to it being everything but the first instance of people on Era being weird about lesbians & women. Era already is quite awful to be on whenever men try to act like they know more about sexualization, fetishisation, and misogyny than women do or try to blame women for x thing they're struggling with instead of their fellow men, so naturally it doesn't feel any less shit when the focus is put on lesbians instead. Era isn't unique in that ofc & obviously much better than less moderated places with even less lesbians present, but that doesn't mean lesbians should just ignore their own feelings on these topics.

Now we know that a goddam lie, as there are plenty of examples on ERA where self proclaimed lesbians, especially trans-lesbians, gets away will all sorts of stuff that hetero-ERA would be instantly banned if they did the same.

Nobody has said that we absolutely do not want to talk about Chappell or other lesbian artists on here, but I think it's important to acknowledge that Era isn't really a safe space where we can feel like we're just together with other lesbians or sapphic folk because this forum is still largely men & public to boot. Once you've had gross fuckers from other sites send you the most disgusting DMs after finding your other social media accounts you don't really ever go back to feeling 100% safe to be super personal on here. I also remember Ree malding over Stefanie because she didn't go "apeshit feminist" when giving a recent interview on playing Quiet. They were upset that she was being rather diplomatic and appealing to both sides of the fence (which was the smart thing to do). I thought her bringing up "diversity and representation" being important would win them over, but it didn't.

It was the passive aggressive kind of malding, usually associated with manipulative women who like to gossip and throw backhanded insults. And I still care about image quality. It's not hard to understand. People who are still appreciative of what a console offers can still be interested in image quality and want a slightly higher premium device to get it.

That stealth brag (not from you) about the 4090 is also weird. But sure, compare the highest end GPU out there that costs more than twice the amount of a PS5 Pro, and that's just a GPU. Totally.

This, just buy a PC bro!, stuff is annoying. At least I'm happy options fucking exist for PC players and console players, to choose what they want.
