I've been pondering all day about it and the idea of "modern design" being a term used by younger people/younger gamers, I've just realized that might have a terrible implication of that.

Back in 2013 when I was doing Film and TV Production at University, one lecturer was discussing Feminist perspective on Film and asked the class to raise their hands on whether or not they considered themselves a Feminist. All the women in the lecture hall (along with me before I realized I was trans) but none of the men did and the lecturer questioned them on that and why; and all she got back were dogwhistles or rhetoric they'd clearly heard from their favourite personalities, "I'm not a Feminist, I'm a Humanist!" (Remember when that was the go-to dog whistle, Lilith that makes me feel old), "I think Feminism devalues men's rights!" or "I think Feminism isn't inclusive!".

And when questioned by the Lecturer to explain that or just countered them with basic logic, they couldn't, all they could do was repeat the slogans or go silent because they had no explanation why Feminism was bad or explain the reasoning behind their arguments/statements, they were just saying it because it's what their favourite YouTubers were saying, just parroting it assuming it made sense and was smart and had friends who also watched those vids and just assumed it made sense and was smart; No one was telling them better or challenging those assumptions and again that was 2013, YT's algorithms and social media was nowhere near as bad it is now.
