It always astounds me that there are no vocal police unions pushing to get high powered rifles off the streets. Police frequently show up at crime scenes where they are outgunned, and these weapons obviously make their job more difficult and far more deadly. I don't know what feasible solution looks like for the policing problem in the USA but I know here in Seattle policing has almost evaporated and crime is rampant. I feel like a republican talking point but it has truly gotten brazen since the pandemic. Nobody even bothers filing police reports for things because they'll never get looked into anyway. Basically the only active crime investigation unit in SPD is homicide, all other crime is completely passable these days.
