Literally no one in this topic has said a damn word against what you or any other Jewish poster has said wrt to why it can be taken as antisemetic by Jewish people. So clearly you can't be taking issue with that.

The only thing it seems to me, then, that you could be taking issue with is the fact that black posters are simultaneously talking about our experiences with our speech and how it is treated outside of our own circles.

So, much in the same way you expressed your feelings on how the topic seems to be going to you, I expressed my feelings on how that post comes off to me.

Even though you may be protected it would be a pain in the ass and a waste of time, specially with big dollar items.

About a week ago, I bought $3000 worth of rims and tires and as soon as I paid, my anxiety went through the roof checking notifications often. Wondering how fast will the company ship and then hoping for FedEx not to screw it up or damage the rims. It wasn’t a pleasant week specially when Fedex decided not to update the tracking for 5 days.

Anyone feels similar about online shopping as I do?

This, "I'm gonna take the worst reading of what you said and assume you're a secret bigot," has been standard operating procedure on ERA since its inception. And not just on ERA. This is a regular occurrence on social media in general. They are only mad here because the shoe's on the other foot for a change. When you help foster an environment/culture that assumes bad faith from everyone not in your "in-group" don't be surprised when it eventually comes back to bite you in the ass.

Quote:Was on a lunch at my desk yesterday, and overheard the manager speaking with a co-manager about politics. I assumed the manager was a left leaning individual, only to find that he was absolutely against reelecting Biden, and open to "holding his nose and voting for Trump" because he feels things were better under Trump's first term. They brought up "election fraud being rampant" and "how mysterious it was when the initial counts were highly in favor of Trump, but by the next morning it swung completely around" which of course was when the mail-in ballots were counted. He also brought up how convenient he believes it has been for all the indictments about Trump to occur right before the next election.

I have a strict policy of not discussing politics in the workplace, so I sat by idly and didn't engage on their conversations. It's always bizarre when you find out the people that you perceive as being fairly intelligent, are actually easily manipulated and quite delusional when it comes to politics. The manager is actually in his early 30s, and from one of the more liberal areas in my state, so it was surprising to see him spouting all the key right wing talking points.

Is pretty clear to me that Jamie Foxx didn’t intended to sound anti semitic, but without context it totally sounds like anti semitism.

I’m sorry RE that we don’t now enough about the Afro American experience to understand that was not intended to sound like that, I hope you guys are as understanding on this like with other cultures.

Quote:My main point was that the anti-Semitic reading of the post is not due to outrage culture or toxicity (as the person I responded to argued), but due to the fact that Jewish deicide is a extremely common anti-Semitic trope.

Gee, I wonder why?

Anyway, you are going to tell us why Afro Americans shouldn’t empower the N-Word?

Quote:Part of the point we've been saying is it's not super vague or unique to one person in our community. Since it's meaning is common place to us and thus Jamie, I'm sure it was a case of him assuming others knew it too.
To mirror your "there is literally only one possible way I could interpret the phrase" I'm in the same boat and it's the way Jamie meant it. Before this thread I had no idea anyone would ever misconstrue that statement as anti-Semitic.

Maybe you are are not as educated about discrimination and dog whistles as you think you are?

Quote: I'm completely ignorant when it comes to religious lore, but I also have never heard this particular saying in the Black community. What I'm not ignorant of is having fake friends so at face value this makes since to me. I would not have any idea this was seen as anti semitic.

Is not even “religious lore”, is something that was said during two millenniums discriminate Jewish people. Is basic history.

Quote:Ok and counterpoint, to people in the Jewish community, it’s super commonplace to see “they killed Jesus” and know exactly what’s being referred to. There is a staggering amount of hypocrisy in this thread right now. This is no different at all than when someone uses a racist dog whistle that they didn’t know was a dog whistle. It’s better not to double down and say “well I didn’t know so no need to apologize”. Best to say ahh yeah I can see how that could be misinterpreted so I apologize for that. Good on Jamie for clearing the air. He did nothing wrong, but better to clarify for those that were concerned about what he meant.

This week, try remembering that when you're overhearing people saying things you don't like those are actually passive aggressive attacks on you personally that reveal their inner souls and desires regarding you.

Also, remember that literally everything they say and do is really targeted at you. There's basically nothing they think about except you and how to send messages to you about what they think about you. Don't confront them about this or bring it up in any way, that will just cause them to gaslight you about their obsession with you and ramp up their constant harassment of you. These types know exactly what they're doing and it's all some kind of sick game to them, you'll just give them the signal that it's working and they should start enlisting others. Assuming those others aren't already part of it, which is a distinct possibility, these types love to get together for mob harassment because they think about absolutely nothing else but targeting you.

they can't ever square their own lore

if all that is required to be trans is to feel trans and say you are trans, then anyone can briefly accept trans-ness into their heart, identify as that, dictate whatever they like, and then change back

or if they want to put up some actual barriers to what it means to be trans, then we can talk about whether it's something that some people don't get to have a say in or not

I don't
