THIS GAME CAME OUT YESTERDAY. One person? One? It's a colorful and polished party game with a nice trailer from a seasoned indie dev? The Pixeljunk games were an indie staple of the 360/PS3 gen. Q Games also had a Steam release last year with a max concurrent of FIVE players.

This is actually crazy. I thought just how ignored Wild Bastards was seemed scary. Or a dozen other cool looking indies I've seen this year with sub 100 reviews on Steam.

There is no talking around this. No excuses. The game has had official trailers on Xbox and Playstation and has been at multiple showcases now. It was on the Xbox TGS showcase yesterday. That was streamed out to 350k people. ONE PLAYER? And it wasn't sizzle. It was shown off.

How could an indie dev even stomach making a game in 2024? This is actually horrifying.

Easily written off as a joke as Xander is suspended by chains awaiting torture. But Spy Kids shows he is a relatively short man. If you’re wondering why he was intimidating in Desperado, consider that Antonio Banderas is 5’8”.

I got on the same flight as Danny Trejo in LA one time. Can confirm he is very short. Radiates absolute fucking cool though.

I feel like we're going backwards. I mean, I grew up with Samus Aran, Terra of FFVI, Lara Croft, Jill Valentine/Claire Redfield, and many others. It was fine. It was refreshing to me as a young gamer because there were so many male protagonist.

But now there seems to be a fragile Chud brigade online that goes apeshit when a female protagonist is revealed. Most recently with Ghost of Yotei. It's 2024 and this is a thing? I came across a clip of that idiot Asmondgold talking about "playing as a girl" online. It's hard to tell if he's trolling/sarcastic or real, but his fans believe it and they Imitate his nonsense. I mean, a grown man talking like this? It's not even a funny or original gag/joke.

I'm fully aware of GamerGate and the recent Sweet Baby outrage, but it's still crazy how regressed some of the gaming community is.

NO ONE on the internet is more triggered by female characters than ResetEra.

More specifically, you all hate any even mildly attractive female women (both IRL and in videogames).

You morons had, and still have, a collective meltdown over the babes of Stellar Blade. If you hadn't noticed, Steller Blade is one of the best-selling games of the year, so audiences clearly don't object to women leads.

What a few people aren't fond of is paying $70+ for female leads that are clearly designed to appeal to a very narrow, LGBT-DEI audience and deliberately made to be as ugly as possible because it's 'diversity', like Abby in The Last of Us Part II, and now that woman in Ghost of Yotei who looks more muscular than an MMA fighter. Look how that turned out for Concord.

Honestly, I think the more accurate answer to his question is also the simpler answer: To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Nobody cared one way or the other about women appearing in games until it started to be pushed as an agenda, and that in turn created resistance. Regardless of whatever agenda you're pushing, you're gonna get people resisting it. That doesn't mean all agendas are bad or anything, but this fake "I DON'T GET IT, I'M BAFFLED THAT WHEN I'M TRYING TO CHANGE BEHAVIOR THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE RESISTING" nonsense is ridiculous. If you believe in your cause, expect pushback and keep pushing through it by trying to convince people you're right. Don't act like resistance is some novel, crazy thing.
